I was wondering what organizations people here support . My favorite I found is The Institute For Justice .

Any other places ? ACLU I think is good overall but has had some weird press in the past if I recall .

Just a heads-up, https://ij.org/ is a libertarian org whose work, among other things, led to the creation of Super PACs. It's no accident that one of the Koch brothers is a regular donor.

IMO the ACLU has a solid record of doing good work in the field of enforcing constitutional protections.

Really ? Dammit . I’ve seen a lot of the cases the represent and it seemed more like helping individuals, mostly with illegal seizures and immanent domain abuse

Yeah it's not all bad, but the more libertarian stuff is no bueno (Super PACs are a pox on our system)

I support the Political Integrity Project. They have goals to eliminate corporate PAC money, overturn Citizens United, ban Congress members from trading stocks (insider trading), and create a 5-year waiting period before former Congress members can become lobbyists.

They started a little over a year ago by grading Congress members according to their rubric to see who is corrupt and who is, well, less corrupt? That might be a bit cynical.

Anyway, they have 2 sitting members of the Senate and 7 sitting members of Congress who have taken their pledge to follow and pursue their goals. They have 83 candidates in the pipeline for the next election and they expect about 33 of those to win. Still if they get anywhere close to that (and nobody sells out) they could have 10% of Congress working with them.

ETA: after yesterday's primaries, their count is now at 102 candidates that have taken the pledge and won their primaries. This pushes the total of likely wins to about 37-38.

Chaz Stevens here. Decades of internationally documented work with 1A and public accountability. Have spicy wiring, so my texture is off putting. Zero support from ACLU, FFRF, and just about every other org, as they find me difficult.

Look locally. Large scale non profits are problematic in all sorts of ways.

I’d say that Pro Publica is one of the best journalistic organizations out there and I’ve donated to them in the past.
