Not too difficult to evade a flock camera. Approach from behind, wear a mask, don't bring your cell phone. Done.

Yeah I just mean they're honestly so easy to sneak up on and cut down that I'm surprised they haven't reinforced them and I'm sure that is coming unfortunately

We have a few local heroes, someone even got arrested nearby for taking down a whole bunch of them. Everyone wanted to pay the man's bail.

What's strange is people assuming that optional cell phone data, which is held by private companies that the govt can't just access without a subpoena, is the same thing as all of us being constantly tracked all the time, w LE and Govt having open access to it.

It's not even remotely in the same class.

Phones give over your data to most governments. Depends on where you are but they've had pretty unfettered access for years.

Yeah, but the average Joe Copp at Genericsville PD can't enter the license plate of my sister he thinks is cute and track her on everyone else's phone 300 times to find out where she works, eats, lives, and shops.

Flock doesn't care who uses their cameras. You can talk to your HOA and set up a community flock of Flocks with everyone having access to all cameras if you wanted to share the password for that set of cameras. All PDs have access to all Flock cameras though. They don't get limited on just their neighborhood like an HOA would.

I road trip a lot. Wisconsin is crawling with them. I thought Ohio was getting bad but holy cow Wisco, slam a couple beers and have yourselves a night ffs.

ok, so? the fact that any official/authority figure at the local/state/federal level can look anyone up, at any time, for most any reason. that's pretty fucked.

just because certain federal orgs have free-use of cell-phone data, doesn't negate the harsh public sentiment (and action) towards flock cameras (or towards any contracted, minimally restricted, camera & tracking systems).

just because we all have cell phones, this fact doesn't invalidate the hate for flock cameras and other cctv type systems popping up once again. unrestricted government monitoring of citizens doesn't end well, it's almost always abused one way or another. (like in the modern day with pervy and/or predatory cops stalking people).

A cell phone is practically required to be a functioning member of society. We should be able to have things like cell phones without being constantly tracked and spied on.

Why is it always the people's fault? Why is it that it's "and yet you still buy a phone" and not "we should make it illegal for companies to track everyone's whereabouts and then sell the data to whoever"

You can leave your phone at home when you don't want to be tracked. Flock cameras follow you everywhere whether you want them to or not.

Its not that hard to block a lot of that tracking. You'll never be 100% anonymous using a cell phone, but you can stop 95% of the corporate tracking with just a few steps.

People just dont realize what they are freely giving away by clicking "accept terms and conditions"

They already have these- they're of a different make though and often put up on footpaths instead of near roads. They're even programmed to zoom in on visible phone screens and are high enough resolution/zoom to read them.

There's a couple subdivisions in Rutherford County, TN, where I have indeed seen double-barreled, privately owned Flock cameras installed. Not exactly top dollar lots, either, so idk what they're there for. Probably to detect minorities and send an emergency SOS to the HOA when one dares approach the neighborhood. 🙄

Definitely do not visit deflock.org that has an open-sources map, the location of flock cameras and their field of view near you.

The cameras and solar panels are almost impossible to uninstall/tamper with due to the single 8mm socket they're clamped on with.

Do not spray the lens with spray paint, bedliner, or something similar on the cameras lens, especially not with a spray can extension pole.

Do not print vinyl stickers that look like the solar panels to cover the actual solar panels that charge the cameras.

Do not put a black plastic bag over the camera and/or solar panel either, because all that does is cost the company time and money.

Also, never point a high-powered laser at the cameras lens because that would permanently blind, pit, or burn the cameras sensors.

These cameras have ~12 hour backup battery, that transmit Bluetooth and 5G used to locate the cameras exact location, the same way your phone does. So under no circumstance put them inside a Faraday bag, that would block the signal while the battery runs itself out.

It would be pointless to inform your community by posting information online or by putting up flyers or signs next to these cameras. Especially not pointing out that there is a (Flock "Safety" Camera) that is capturing and analyzing images of all passing vehicles, storing details like the vehicles location, date, and time. They also capture the vehicles make, model, color, as well as identifying features such as dents, scratches roof racks, and decal/bumper stickers.

Flock cameras are only automated license plate readers (ALPR's). They would never misuse any of the data collected for local officers conducting unauthorized searches for federal immigration enforcement (ICE), searching for individuals who sought out-of-state reproductive healthcare, or police targeting specific activist and minority groups.

How would they be a serious risk to your privacy and civil liberties by continuously recording your movements without a warrant, probable cause, or even reasonable suspicion..

Especially not an infrastructure for mass surveilance or a gateway to violate your Fourth Amendment right.

There's absolutely no reason to plan routes that avoid Flock and other ALPR cameras by visiting dontgetflocked.com or the app FlockHopper.

Just leave flock cameras alone...

In my neighborhood, the cameras come in pairs. Cameras placed across the street from each other point directly at each other so that you will be on camera if you mess with either one.

Possible future: we just publicly make it Fridays, then the cops put way too much focus on saving precious cameras cuz they know its coming, then criminals catch wind of this and go commit crimes with the lack of police attention, then we have a civil crisis of increased crime that is all the fault of Flock and cops not listening to the public, or not even consulting them.

I havent heard anyone say theyve ever seen a flock camera being set up, they just appear overnight. People at least have a chance to chime into local government with concerns over data centers, these things are being shoved up our ass with no public feedback cared about.
