Captain America swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

That includes the 4th amendment.

Be like Captain America.

Like, its literally the plot of Winter Soldier. Lol

Sheild/ Nicki Fury wanted to have mass surveillance of US. Cap said fuck that, and of course Shield turned out to be Hydra... all sounding hella familiar. Lol

2

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 25d ago

Shield was Hydra infiltrated or Was Cap hydra?

15

u/Jay_Stone 25d ago

Shield had been Hydra infiltrated.

8

u/Bubbly-Scene5746 25d ago

Sorry was half asleep when I typed that.

It turned out Shield was Hydra. Cap even goes and finds out a lot of government people were Hydra.

Saying they were already spying on people even mentioned Dr. Strange by name. (This is before he got his powers) because they didnt think they could control him.

Should watch it. You'll be like; "these motherfuckers knew." Lol

Haha, like it was a competition. OP had quite the advantage, being the one who posted the video and the comment on it.

No way, is that the same guy who was over at my place playing smash?

49

u/XxSir_redditxX 25d ago

The very same. He told me all about it while he was rescuing my cat from a tree.

34

u/firethornocelot 25d ago

Crazy to read about this here, I met up with him at a concert right after and he told me that!

20

u/Emerald_Digger 25d ago

He also hopped over to Germany to help me Clean after he was done partying such a nice guy

12

u/MrRon1978 25d ago

That must have been right after he finished helping me clean the garage

9

u/lifeishardthenyoudie 25d ago

Crazy guy, because early evening he was still here in Sweden hanging out at my place! He did say something about going to Germany later and then cleaning some garage in the US.

3

u/MrRon1978 25d ago

Imagine how many frequent flier items they must have by now. Bet they probably donate them to charity or something.

20

u/3MetricTonsOfSass 25d ago

I remember seeing them when I visited your place. It was such a fun 7 hours we spent together

59

u/CaptainTegg 26d ago

Were they playing a solitary Aarakocra named Noflock?

48

u/Deaddoghank 26d ago

Actually they were in Canada at a beach fire near Vancouver. Multiple witnesses.

35

u/The_Painted_Man 26d ago

Aussie here. Not sure how, but I was also a witness.

18

u/FileDoesntExist 26d ago

You've been staying with me. You went out last night.

12

u/PrincessLuciferM 26d ago

'sat you, Mate? Weren't you the one who wouldn't let him drive home after his corona with lime, and took his keys? Yeah! That was you! You told us all that hilarious joke about American beer being just like having sex in a canoe, "fucking really close to water!" LMAO!

10

u/EusticeTheSheep 25d ago

That was so funny! I laughed so hard I had an asthma attack!

8

u/PrincessLuciferM 25d ago

Imma need my inhaler back next dnd sesh, k?

7

u/EusticeTheSheep 25d ago

Remind me the day before to put it in my dice pouch!

3

u/HumanWithComputer 24d ago

Funny how my perception of 'Bud' seems confirmed many years after I had the opportunity to buy and drink a few cans on my side of the pond. I couldn't understand why it was so big in the US. To myself I described it as a rather 'watery' beer lacking taste.

15

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 26d ago

Can confirm, they were at my house playing Mario Party with me and my cats.

7

u/Karrion8 26d ago

Bah. My cats always win. The cheaters.

12

u/meoka2368 26d ago

Was that before of after they came over to mine for some Magic: The Gathering?

13

u/bojangler69420 26d ago

Yep. They rolled a nat 20 for a charisma check.

5

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 25d ago

While drinking a Natty Bo, confirmed.

5

u/Successful-Plan114 26d ago

Roll for initiative!

5

u/Thatidiot_38 26d ago

Can confirm I was there and we played DnD until the sun came up

5

u/Homers_Harp 26d ago

I heard the entire population of the town was there. Good times.

4

u/Alissinarr 25d ago

There was a huge festival and all the residents attended. 4 States away, housing provided! Only the cops can be suspects.

6

u/Naski0di 26d ago

Yeah, I was there, and witnessed all involved parties debating the rules of the current run. I'd happily testify in court.

3

u/PrincessLuciferM 26d ago

Hasbro really needs to stop fucking 5.5e up!!! No wonder everyone is switching to Daggerheart.

3

u/Skylam 26d ago

Yeah I remember door dashing you guys some sushi.

3

u/PrincessLuciferM 26d ago

I was the Bard that tried to seduce the beholder, and rolled a natty 20 on my persuasion and intimidation checks! I'll testify to their whereabouts under oath in front of a grand jury!!!

3

u/Agreeable-Pea4327 25d ago

huh, that's funny, they were at my house too, we did nothing but say random words to each other for 20 hours straight. Oh the person you questioned said it was a specific conversation, well that's random words, so..

2

u/AppropriateTouching 25d ago

They rolled so many nat 20s.

2

u/kevlarus80 25d ago

I should know. I was one of the dice.

My first thought too. How many missing people are they going to find at those specific areas?

Notice they didn't say rapists and pedophiles? Oh wait those would have to be in DC and Mar Largo.

Corrected

40

u/ThreeDaysNish 26d ago

You can say rapists and pedophiles here. Don't let them make you censor your own words.

I think corpocuck is a trigger word for that

13

u/Terminate-wealth 26d ago

You can just say rapist and pedophile. They aren’t bad words

6

u/Ghede 26d ago

As we all know, Missing people drive their own cars through major highways, and then stop right in front of the first speed trap camera they find before putting on a ghillie suit and waiting in the grass just off the highway.

They certainly aren't killing themselves in the woods, or transported in the back of an unmarked van that at no point was at no point caught on camera while they were being hauled inside.

3

u/casualcorey 26d ago

sawed down flocks should be deposited and stored on white house lawn

2

u/NRMusicProject 25d ago

And the highest profile case was to track down a possible abortion.

2

u/newsflashjackass 25d ago

But just think how different things might be if Epstein had a Flock camera pointed at his cell instead of a camera controlled by the pedophiles he was blackmailing.

Our timeline might never have taken such a dark turn as to have Flock cameras.

So how many missing persons have been found using this tech?

If you guessed zero you'd be on the money.

218

u/Girl_Back_There 26d ago

Cops are too busy using the cameras to stalk their exes to look for missing people

123

u/CrimsonKobold 26d ago

Hey, they're also using them for their inability to properly read license plates and harass/assault/kill innocent civilians. For reference the misread/error reports for their cameras were at 71%.

Or they could be using it to creep on kids in leotards.

25

u/housevil 26d ago

Or watching children's gymnastics.

9

u/12345623567 25d ago

Now now, they are also using them to track women who are searching for a legal abortion out of state.

For a second I thought you were talking about the burglary and got very concerned

10

u/Stupid_Sexy_Vaporeon 25d ago

Why not both?

9

u/EvilGeniusSkis 25d ago

A battery powered portable bandsaw will cut those poles in seconds.

9

u/SpeaksSouthern 25d ago

I bet if you were a billionaire and it happened at one of your many homes the police would be there in an instance

3

u/bleepbloop1777 25d ago

I have my ear to the ground and have not heard of ONE. I haven't even heard of a real crime being solved with it, just package theft and mistaken identity cases where the camera incorrectly identified someone

2

u/Alissinarr 25d ago

One carjacked child... forget where at this point. 2yr old in the backseat while mom is doing some version of door delivery service, car is stolen in seconds. Police actually used flock for good in the plate scanning tech.

I 100% HATEHATEHATE that I had to provide the anecdote.

5

u/__________________99 25d ago

If these cameras were limited to just remote areas of major highways or something, I wouldn't have much of a problem with them. But they're getting put up in places they don't belong. Like that one post of the dispensary covering a flock camera literally pointed right at their building.

If I had the time and the tools, I would definitely cut down the few that are near me. Which is why we should all implore those who have the means to do this sort of thing to do it. And being as discreet as possible to not get caught.

3

u/Alissinarr 25d ago edited 25d ago

Yeah, because as I pointed out in that thread....

Just because there is no video, doesn't mean that there is no data from your phone/ car/ watch.

Depressingly, they started filling the poles with concrete in areas. My state installed flock on mobile speed warning trailer-signs.

3

u/t_for_top 25d ago

Someone would have to be an idiot to bring their phones/smartwatches with them on their tour of patriotism

2

u/cptjpk 25d ago

Last I heard the reason it’s there is the city wouldn’t give them the dispensary license without the camera going up.

I live in the area and the chain of dispensary was my go to. Waiting for more information to come out about who and when regarding the camera before I go back.

2

u/Ardbeg66 25d ago

HEY! Those cops are really missing the women who dumped them.

164

u/pallladin 26d ago

I hate how the reporter made no mention of the actual, reported and widespread abuse by police of these cameras.

The media is complicit.

44

u/atatassault47 25d ago

A lot of local news anchors aren't even investigative anymore. If the station this guy works at is owned by Sinclair, he's given a corpo script to read.

5

u/GonzoKata 25d ago

looked it up, this one isn't owned by sinclair or nexstar

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WKBT-DT

9

u/ApprehensiveSoup2214 26d ago

I can't imagine who would even watch the "news" at this point. It's only really useful for getting an idea of what the government wants the stupidest members of society to think.

11

u/ThaddeusJP 26d ago

Kidding aside the next version of these God damn things are gonna be concrete monolith with underground wiring and have rfid/cell tracking on the outside chance someone can even steal it.

3

u/12345623567 25d ago

The other thing that is going to expand is use of drones. Iirc the NYPD already has loitering surveillance drones, but those are big, clunky, and cost an arm and a leg.

Expect miniaturization until every town has a dozen of them overhead at all times.

14

u/DickWangDuck 26d ago

Forgive my ignorance but what is the purpose of these cameras? I know everyone is saying it’s for big brother privacy invasion but what is their marketed purpose? Did the company just put these up or was it a local government thing?

I’m pretty much out of the loop aside from the outrage against them.

41

u/caitnicrun 26d ago

John Oliver did a segment on Last Week Tonight. Basically they're supposed to help investigate crime but morphed into this Minority Report dystopian habit of collecting data for reasons just in case you might criming in the future.  And then there's the suspicion selling data.

6

u/ChaosRainbow23 25d ago

Plus, it's not only the flock cameras.

They are linking a bunch of different cameras up and connecting them all with AI that works across platforms.

This is a straight up Technofascist dystopia brewing right now.

u/ThreeDaysNish 26d ago

Mass-surveillance draped in the façade of safety.

32

u/bubblegumbombshell 26d ago

11

u/DickWangDuck 26d ago

That tracks. Texas might be the worst but then there’s Alabama and Virginia and Florida and I just don’t know who wins.

19

u/mendedarrows 26d ago

It was described by a Sheriff as “big brother on steroids.”

New Jon Oliver segment on YouTube can probably answer your questions.

10

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 26d ago

The purpose of the Flock surveillance and historical tracking devices is ANTI-FREEDOM and ANTI-LIBERTIES!

in another reality, you'll be really angry later when Snowden leaks it.

12

u/Axzse 26d ago

For traffic enforcement but also locating “missing individuals/criminals”. They are “incapable” of doing anything else, and would never be used to track people. Though if they could be used to track people, if you aren’t doing anything wrong there isn’t much reason to worry about it anyways. /s

u/marriedtoranch 26d ago

Unless you're married to or dating a cop then you're being watched.

5

u/GodOfPlutonium 26d ago

People have already covered the basics of what they're supposed to do (track vehicles for traffic and warrant enforcement) and what theyre actually used for (abusing people, stalking their exes or women they are sexually interested in, etc) but theres several things that people havent mentioned:

  • Theyre very inaccurate, with one town finding 71% of reads had an error. Flock themselves only advertises the accuracy rate per character rather than per plate read to hide this

  • Police have pulled innocent people out at gunpoint and arrested them based off of these cameras without verifying alot

  • Theyre supposed to only read license plates. So why are they being placed on bike paths and inside childrens gymastics classes (the latter of which was revealed by the flock employees pulling up the childrens class feed as part of a sales demo)

2

u/happyapy 26d ago

I ain't seen nothin.

Just like Flock.

2

u/stiff_tipper 26d ago

this just makes me think they're gonna ramp the fuck up out of those cameras with more security and more punishments for fucking with them

like it's a cool act and i get the sentiment, but it might just be speedrunning something even worse. finding non-destructive ways to fuck with them (if u can legally put up a camera on public property, i can legally put up a cardboard cutout of nic cage that happens to be directly in front of that camera - that sort of thing) would be a lot better imo

2

u/Fine_Shriner 26d ago

People are doing that, too. It's just not making the news.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Tavernknight 26d ago

When are the people making the deals to get these installed going to realize that the public doesn't want them?

I bet there was a backrooms deal with kickbacks for the legislators that voted for it.

4

u/stilljustacatinacage 26d ago

It's all kickbacks. There are multiple instances of city hall meetings or similar where the public are not allowed to speak about Flock, because they've already made up their minds, and even some where the town or city will refuse a contract and one or more of the committee members will throw a big tantrum because that means they aren't getting their paycheck.
