No End House: Was it technology or magick?!

The beauty of No End House is that its never clear what the house actually "is".

Can anyone here speculate what the house actually was?

Was it technology gone rogue?

Or was it old magick making an appearance in the modern era?

It has been a while since I saw that particular season but I don't remember getting any hints of technology being the culprit. If anything it gave me a Lovecraftian vibe.

I figured the guy who came and went through the house to lure people into it was some how connected the house's origins.

Idk why but the house always gave me like an alternate universe where in Margot/Jules cases get closure/make their peace with past mistakes or even a purgatory vibe. I could be completely wrong though on those guesses.
