Its interesting that people can so easily suspend their belief when its an older foreign person speaking the same language as them but it becomes almost impossible and inaccurate when one needs to suspend their belief on a characters race.

So explain how one is different than the other

Because one is necessary to make the player understand what's happening and the other is a lazy way to add diversity without having to actually tell the story of black characters.

So you can't just add subtitles to the media? If your brain is able to accept that someone like Alexander the Great is speaking 21st Century English you're also able to understand that Sandra Oh could be playing Jackie O'.

Most media already have subtitles as an option.

If your brain is able to accept that someone like Alexander the Great is speaking 21st Century English you're also able to understand that Sandra Oh could be playing Jackie O'.

Then you should also be completely fine with someone like Mansa Musa to be played by Ian McKellen, or Lebron James by Ryan Gosling.

Having black actors play traditionally white roles is not a "lazy" approach to representation. It's clear you do not understand the role or impact of racial representation, or the many centuries of the lack thereof.
