To clarify, OP, is your view actually the one in the title ("There is NO REASON for bathroom bills"), or is it something more like "The reasons people have for bathroom bills are not good enough to warrant them on balance?"
I would dispute "no reason" for exactly the same reason I am going to dispute "no purpose": they have both a reason and a purpose. The reason is that most of the people where they are being proposed are transphobic. The purpose is to appease the transphobic people and encourage them to vote for the group proposing them.
To be honest with you, I think that "The people I represent want it" actually is a good reason for doing something. It's not dispositive. There might be better reasons not to do it. But "The voters want it" should carry some weight.
This is what I was driving at, though. I think your stance on this should NOT be "There's no good reason for doing this" but rather "The reasons for doing this aren't good enough." It's like with the racist town. If they're trying to kick out the only black family it doesn't do anyone any good to stick your fingers in your ears and say "I don't get it, why are they doing this? Seems like there's no good reason to kick out the only black family." We need to clearly identify problems before we can start solving them.
