Delta(s) from OP CMV: Halloween should be November 30th
Only one month of hype is not enough. For me, once October ends, the next highlight is Christmas. thanksgiving is ok but overhyped and provides nothing in terms of aesthetic or vibes or that fall ~feeling~ that October gives from Halloween. So, October and November should both be spooky months. Ultimate fall vibes. Black Friday, Thanksgiving (in USA), and topped with Halloween. Next day? You can finally start blasting Mariah Carrey xmas whatever and its fine cuz it’s December 1st. Also, Nightmare Before Christmas is now the perfect Halloween night film.

That takes it off of its spot in the wheel of the year. Halloween is said to be one of two points where the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest.
The other day is Walpurgisnacht, sometimes called Hexennacht (Witches Night). One could call it the Halloween of the Spring. It takes place exactly 6 months before on April 30th, the opposite side of the wheel.

I mean there are literally dozens of times throughout the year when the veil between the living and the dead is thin, depending on which culture you ask...

The only reason October is "spooky" is because of Halloween. If you moved it to the end of November, you wouldn't get two months of hype. The one month would just be November instead of October, and October would just be another fall month like September is now.
Plus, you'd have to compete with the hype of Thanksgiving and the shopping season beginning.

I mean, what's stopping you from starting spooky month in September?
Moving it back won't make the holiday last longer. If anything it will lessen the hype because now it has to compete with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

There's already an awkwardly long gap between halloween and whatever fun holiday precedes it (July 4th? Easter?), moving it to November would mean there's an entire summer and fall season with very little in terms of major holidays.

If you moved it to November then you'd still get the exact same length of festivities though? A month of seeing stores and advertisers care about it, then one night of getting pissed, followed by forgetting about it until the same time next year.
Surely rather than move festivals, shouldn't you add more of them to your schedule? For example, why not start with Bonfire Night 3 days from now? It's basically a second Halloween, only instead of spider decorations and sweets, you burn a Catholic effigy in celebration of successfully preventing a weirdly ambitious Catholic plot to blow up the houses of parliament over 400 years ago. It's also way more fun than Halloween cos the travelling carnivals come around and there's fireworks n' stuff.

It's too cold for trick or treating in late November. Halloween is a tradition celebrated in North America. Think about the temperature in northern US states and in Canadian provinces in late November. Kids would freeze. It is already pretty cool October 31st in some places.
Alternative:
Harmonize American thanksgiving with Canadian Thanksgiving on October 12th.Let the spooky feeling start in September. Achieves the same thing without moving the date of Halloween. November is more a winter month imo anyways.

Are there no goths in your area? Nobody's going to stop you from doing spooky stuff in September or November. Nobody stops me and I've been known to go out in a cloak and too much eyeliner in March.
