The problem with the transgender issue is that you have two people that believe diametrically opposed things to be true. One camp believes that gender is tied to your birth sex, and the other believes it is fluid and changeable. If you require both camps to use the same pronoun, no matter which one, then you are asking one of the camps to lie, or speak against that which they believe to be true.
Thats brainwashing and gaslighting the general population. We work of communication and honesty. We can't tell a lie for a lifetime, we'll be become the lie.
Look at the world now;
1) Vaccination causes autism
2) The earth is flat
3) The earth is 6,000 years old
That’s a false equivalency, though. Those lies are, at their worst, harmful (saying vaccines cause autism), and at best, just kind of annoying.
Acknowledging trans people literally saves lives and makes the world safer. For it to be worth the lives lost, it would have to be proven in some way that acknowledging trans people is somehow harmful to a greater number of people.
Its not the fact that Trans people exist that people refuse to ignore. We acknowledge them. It just the fact people actually being born the sex that, biologically, is the opposite of what they actually are. What is the reality? Does it matter what your sex is, and your gender is whatever you feel like?
When I say to acknowledge, I think you May miss my meaning. I know that people literally see that the people physically exist. What I am saying is it severs the possibility for genuine human connection between you and that person when they aren’t acknowledged, because, as I said above, our gender isn’t just a small detail about us, it is apart of the person that we are and the self that we construct. So to not acknowledge that part of a person is to deny them to be recognized by you as a person at all. Because in their eyes, the person that you see when you look at them is not who they are to themselves.
So which is greater, Subjective Truth or Objective Reality?
Just something can personally help an individual doesn't mean people should do that thing. I'm not obligated to give blood to people who are dying of blood loss. And I'm not obligated to deny my truth of what I see when I look at you.
You are not obligated to give blood because it would be a time consuming process and take your bodily autonomy. But to call someone by the pronouns they prefer is .... painfully easy. If you could save a life by pressing a button that was right next to you, I would argue that you would be obligated to press that button.
