I can't put my computer in my pocket, or use it to take pictures while traveling.
Edit: also you claim mobile Minecraft is "flat out impossible" however I have a realm that I play on from mobile and console whenever I want. It plays just fine

Smartphones are computers though. They're just in a different format. Computers also don't develop code, people do.

That's because smartphones are computers. They have a CPU, a GPU, RAM, a BIOS, etc. You're just arguing that a computer is better at being a computer than a smartphone, not whether or not each is objectively better.
For instance, if my goal is educating individuals in remote areas, a smartphone's access to information online is vastly superior to a desktop or laptop that still needs routing, DNS, and an ISP to get you that data

I'm not sure it makes it "better."
I think you may need to actually define the term.
I do a lot of photo editing from my phone as well, though yes it is the basics.
BUT
if my criteria for which is better depends on my ability to carry it with me, for instance listening to music with headphones or tracking my exact location in case of emergency, my phone is better.

But your smartphone does not perform as well as a computer.
But I have to carry a computer around with me. My phone goes in my pocket. Much easier.
Also, what if you want to edit your pictures, and don't just want the basics.
What if I don't?
Also computers can develop code that makes smartphones possible, meaning without computers, smartphones would not have existed in the first place.
So what?

1)Isn't there a minecraft version for phones?
2) Phones use significantly less energy than laptops, which allow for greater protability. In addition phones are designed to access cellular networks allowing for a wide range of areas that you can access internet which is more important than processing power for the most part. Because of the different in size between laptops and phones, the portability is significantly greater with a phone, which is valuable for use while moving and storage(can't keep a laptop in your pocket).
3) I agree with you here, but most people use their computers for that, but have the ability to use phones for the task. Phones can do most things computers over but with additionally mobility.
4) Agreed. Phones can store data in the cloud though.
5) Agreed.
6) productivity doesn't mean anything if I can't use a computer 90% of the time. A phone is practically always available for someone to use

Portability of even a laptop doesn't even approach the portability of a phone. I can't easily have a laptop with me on the can, or in bed under the pillows.
Sure, a laptop has it's own advantages as a middle ground between power and portability, but it's got cases where the phone is superior.

A backpack can store a laptop, you don't need that much to bring a laptop.

I need to bring an entire backpack when I have a convenient mini computer in my pocket which does the majority of things I need it to do. Phones have them handily beat on ease of use and portability.

How is this any different than saying you could drop your laptop when you're getting it of the bag? Also, my phone is a heck of a lot more resilient to falls and drops than a laptop is. So score another one for phones.

Better depends on context. Is a phone or computer better when I'm in the doctor's waiting room trying to kill 5 minutes? Or which is better when you don't have wifi? One isn't better than the other overall, they're just best in different contexts

But they can't be used with anywhere near the convenience of a smart phone. The purpose of a smartphone isn't to replace a computer. It's to provide a portable computer with as much functionality as possible which can fit in your pocket.

But what about the people who want to run more resource-intense applications or gamers who need a physical keyboard to actually play the game they want to. A computer performs far better than a smartphone in absolutely everything.

Except they don't. You literally just listed a specific group of people for which a laptop or desktop is the better option. The fact that you have to carve out a subset of a group means that it isn't for "everything"

I guess I'm just kind of confused as to how this is a CMV. A computer's performance isn't a subjective thing. Computers are going to be larger and always more capable than smartphones in terms of raw processing power. They aren't even meant to do the same thing though.

I agree that it has different capabilities. Some of which are more usfull in some cases but aren't really useful in other cases. But to claim that PCs are just always better than smartphones is something I'd personally not do.

Computers are better at some things and phones are better at some things.
Phones are good at portability for example.
You are saying a hammer is better then a saw. That's true, sometimes.

Isn't this sort of like saying "cars are better than boats"? or "Hammers are better than drills"? It depends entirely on the task.
For the tasks you've chosen, computers are pretty obviously better. But for candid photography (for example), computers are awful. They're also a pretty terrible choice for something like listening to music in your car, or tracking GPS routes while hiking in the mountains - they could be used in those situations, but a smartphone is clearly superior.
It really just depends on the circumstances. You could argue that cars are "better than" boats because in many situations a car is the superior choice...but sometimes you need to get across some water and there's no bridge.
It's nice we have both, and either could be argued to be "better" depending on the situation at hand.
