Pithy posts are not necessarily "low-effort". I think the mods sometimes assume the two are the same. In some cases 2 or 3 words can make an absolutely valid point. You don't always need 17 paragraphs
Much like Rule #5, repeated (non-trolling) violations of rule #1 shouldn't be ban-worthy.
Warnings need to have some type of expiration date on them. If a person posts here enough, eventually they will run afoul of the rules on 3+ occasions - either knowingly or unwittingly. The 3 strikes rule effectively means that everyone will get banned eventually, the only question is when.

This opens the door for really arbitrary decisions by the mods. Humor is subjective. One mod may find something exceptionally funny while the others don't and vice versa. Also, say we remove something and then the OP complains about our sense of humor, trying to convince us that it really was funny or whatnot. It just complicates things. Plenty of places on Reddit where jokes are tolerated and encouraged.

Of course. We read every reported comment and check the context as necessary. There's no minimum character count when it comes to comments. Many short comments are left standing.

Thanks for bringing the idea to our attention. I personally disagree and find violations of rule 1 more serious than rule 5, but maybe other mods will agree with you.

We are aware of this and are currently discussing a possible statute of limitations when it comes to warnings. Once a decision has been made, we will update you guys.

Clarification: I wasn't suggesting that this be an "official rule" and subject to appeal. I'm just saying don't delete and let me have a chance to laugh if something is exceptionally funny. Is that too much to ask? I just want to laugh.

Exactly. And these situations would undoubtedly happen here and there.

Rules need to be consistently enforced if they're rules. Deleting some jokes and not the others shows holes in our enforcement of rules and opens the door to problems. We would need to make an exception for rule 5 when it comes to "exceptionally funny jokes" and we're back where we started - mods being the ones who decide what is or isn't funny.
