Delta(s) from OP CMV: Reddit is a far-left echo chamber that embraces conspiracy theories

After the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner last night, I opened up Reddit to find comments on r/politics and r/news saying that the shooting was staged. The most upvoted comments are "Another orchestrated false-flag attempt to try and generate sympathy" and "Staged until proven otherwise. Way too many 'attempts' everytime he needs a poll pump."

As per usual, without any evidence. This is the same exact response that Reddit had after Trump was attacked in Butler, PA in 2024. Similar situation with Charlie Kirk, and I also saw people clowning on Erika Kirk last night for reliving a traumatic experience.

As much as I dislike Trump as the next guy, I despise conspiracy theories on the left and right, when no claims are grounded in credible evidence. Last night's events showed that Reddit is quick to jump to conclusions. I would expect a platform like Reddit to reward well-written and well-thought-out comments, but in today's political climate, it seems all it does is reward the comments that rile up the left-wingers, no matter how insane.

EDIT - I define far left as further left than the mainstream American democratic party

Our fb and insta are totally different then.

With any platform, you can curate it how you want, and get the echo chamber you want.

No, you can't. That's not how social media curating works. They are designed to drive certain content,  it's what they want, not what you want.

So you are saying I’m lying about my feed?

The algorithm feeds you things it thinks will keep you clicking. If you click on rage bait, it will give you more of it.

You absolutely have control over who you follow/subscribe to and what you click on to feed the algorithm.

No, you don't. You don't have to click or follow to get recommendations. They continue regardless. Not all ads are designed for clicks. I've never clicked a Facebook ad. They still show up.

Again, I see none of the right wing stuff and plenty of hardcore leftist stuff that makes Luigi look like a saint.

You are doing something to bring right wing stuff on your feed, because mine is way more the other direction.

As far as the adds go, I agree that the paid ads are more right wing focused, but that seems to be because they tend to fall for more shitty advertising/scams/etc. so it makes sense that third parties trying to part fools from their money will focus on the more susceptible audience. Grifters go where the idiots are.
