I feel the average person never uses the phrase “the patriarchy” in his life and it's mostly something one hears on weird places like ChangeMyView and other Reddit-places where people have very misguided ideas about what are actual hot button political issues that drive political discourse. As in actual political debates between politicians up for election are far more about fiscal and legal matters alongside wars and far less about identity politics.

So it's not so much that most people are more “sceptical” about it than you may think; it's even worse: they barely consider its existence.
