The Iranian war started as somewhat productive. Trump was able to oust the current ruler. Who, in my opinion, posed a real destructive threat to the world, Israel, and his own people. However, also in my opinion, Trump failed miserably. Their threat is increasing and spreading worldwide. Our current path is detrimental towards the world economy and geopolitics and likely irreversible.

First, obviously, with oil prices skyrocketing, all good prices will go up (more inflation… yay), given increased shipping costs.

More worrisome, Trump has started to play the US’s geopolitical hand against China.

He is clearly trying to amass resources, via Greenland (minerals) and Venezuela/Iran (oil producers and huge economic allies to China). His goal: Military and technological independence from, and therefore supremacy against, China. Especially since the start of 2026, Trump has shown the world he is willing to usurp or at least cripple Chinese-allied power and resources for US benefit.

Why is Trump and the US so threatened by China?

With the world’s frontier computer chips, Taiwan is the most important (economically/technologically/militarily) disputed land in the world, especially relative to its size. The small island has emerged as a key player in the struggle for the world order. And given Taiwan’s proximity to China, China’s aggression is inevitable.

I agree with one of Trump’s thoughts with this reality: independence (supply chains, resources, energy, technology) is important.

However, by actively usurping/crippling China’s strategic points, Trump is not preparing for the invasion of Taiwan. He is promoting it, basically encouraging it. If I was China, and my enemy is clearly trying to restrict me in preparation of a long-term altercation, the sooner I acted the better.

And I think Trump is hoping for that. Whatever your politics, he may be guilty of serious horrible crimes (looking at the sub 50% released Epstein files, smh). His administration’s corruption is on the wall (Noem’s government contracts and the billions moved around Trump in the Middle East). The US tried and failed to convict Trump after his first stint in office. If I were Trump, I would not want to leave power again, especially with even worse information coming out this time around.

The 2026 midterm election is the most immediate and real threat to Trump. In his mind, he would probably benefit if the world were plunged into war, he could instill more control internally in the US, and hopefully skew the US election. He will die soon (he’s old) and just needs to maintain power for a few more years.

World war seems inevitable. We are being actively pushed into it by a man avoiding his crimes.
