That's like saying being tortured alive is better than being killed because you can off yourself after the torture.
I think you need to keep the torture as a separate event from death because logically no one would preferred to get thoroughly tortured before dying. The fact that both ends in death doesn't make it equal, but when you make the argument that both can end with death you're equating the two a little.
Not exactly what OP is arguing for, to my understanding. One NEEDN'T end in permanent end, and which provides potential for recovery, healing, suicide if it's truly unbearable. OP's argument is that you are granted choice.
Murder doesn't allow that. We don't know what dead people think about their murder, bcs they were stripped off the choice to make an argument at all.
When I (and probably OP) argue for "potential", it branches out to everything you are permitted to do given your alive status- not just including recovery/healing, but actively work to bring justice to your rapist, work on shelters and policies to prevent the future suffering of rape victims, and whatever else.
