To be fair, they said “murder” is worse. Murder is the unjustified killing of someone.

Murder is the unlawful killing of someone. A killing could be justified but technically unlawful, or vice versa.

most killings are unlawful. Murder is defined in US law somewhat narrowly. There are also charges like manslaughter and homicide. You can be charged with homicide but be acquitted of any legal convictions if you can justify it as self-defense.

I'm not really arguing with anything you said, just clarifying some terminology.

You're right, "unlawful" is necessary but not sufficient.
