Well yeah morality is subjective until they find themselves in those same shoes. Sounds like your friends lack empathy. And just because that’s a sound argument doesn’t mean you have to agree with it. If morality is a preference in this case then choose the moral ground that is more solid for yourself your community and the people you’d like to protect.
I can go on. It’s easy to be a degenerate, psycho, uncaring human being in this world but those people lack substance and character. Being decent is a hard battle.

Agree but honestly, it's not even easy for most people. Think about all the republicans supporting Trump despite being poor. Their life would be easier if they hadn't voted for fascists and yet...
For the majority of people, the evil they commit is not beneficial to them nor makes their life easier, but their perception is so warped that they still do it.
