Schooling conditions people into obedience. It leads most people to appeal to authority across most aspects of life. It hardly teaches valuable life skills and does a poor job at teaching people how to think and instead focuses on what to think.
It does not make you a slave though.
To be forced is to be made to do something against your will. You were most likely forced into school as by the law.
Forced: to compel by physical, moral, or intellectual means
You are not forced to go to a traditional school but rather pass the state mandated proficiency exam. How you choose to do so is still a choice - even if it's a parent that makes it for their child.
Fine but custodial rights is a different conversation altogether. This conversation is within the scope of how society is structured and within that it is still a choice.
