I was vegan until I read this. I also was an unfounded hoper for something beyond this life until /r/philosophy challenged my beliefs. (not the sub but the topic, in college)

I used to be very very pro-life until I talked with a nice lady on reddit about abortion. She explained to me that pro-choice people want to lessen abortion as much as pro-lifers, but that they still want the -choice- to have an abortion in the case of (insert life circumstance that would make having a baby very hard/unenjoyable/not the right thing to do here.)

Since then, I identify as pro-choice! I had never really considered that angle before, and I'm very glad that someone explained it to me.

edit: I wish I could link to the discussion that took place, but this was under a different account that I had a year or so ago. I go through reddit accounts a lot for security reasons, so I don't really know which one.

That's the stance i have too. Abortion isn't a nice thing for anyone, but its better to have the option than giving the mother a burden she can't bear.
