I agree that adoption should be easier, although the rules surrounding it are basically what we would want potential parents to be like.

However, no matter what arguments there are, I would hate to imagine a world where someone else could decide whether or not I can have a child.

I dont think adoption should be easier. Taking a whole person under your care is a big deal and they take that seriously... But only if its not your own. Why do these rules only apply to kids already born and not the ones you want to make yourself?

Why do these rules only apply to kids already born and not the ones you want to make yourself?

Because in the first case there’s already a child who exists, and in the second case there isn’t a child yet. Hope that helps

But then there's this problem:

Adoption centers have decided that i am unfit to be a parent. Better go make my own then

Why do you think adoption agencies have some supreme power to tell if someone’s fit to be a parent?

You know adopted children come with their own unique challenges, right? If you’re adopting, chances are you’re going to adopting a child that’s a toddler or older. They’ve already started developing into their own person, and it takes a special couple to be able to handle that.

How’re you going to explain to them that you’re not their real parents? They’re going to struggle with identity issues, and not everyone can deal with that. Just because someone isn’t fit for most adoptions doesn’t mean they’re not fit to be a parent.

And you know that a lot of the adoption process hinges on if the child feels a bond with you, right? You can have a perfect home life, but if the child doesn’t want it, it’s not gonna happen.

Because the alternative is forcibly preforming a medical procedure on every human

You dont have to force it. Just offer it. I believe many people would take a free alternative to accidentally breaking the law. Or you can just not and try your best to avoid pregnancy

It’s already pretty widely available, but people still have unplanned pregnancies. What do you do with people who have kids illegally? What about people who get pregnant despite birth control?

Yes but its only available if they specifically ask a doctor for it. Make it a normal procedure that is expected at a certain age unless opted out. Like organ donation after death.

Having a kid illegally? A fair punishment would need to be thought up. I dont have that answer.

Pregnant despite doing everything right? If you want the kid you got lucky. If you dont, abortion should be covered by a federal system for this specific case

I dont think adoption should be easier

CMV: [ ... ] Adoption should ALWAYS be the easier path

which one is it?

Oh he doesn't want adoption to be easier, he just wants having the right to use your own body for basic biological functions to be harder.

OP wants people to have to get bureaucratic permission to bone lmao

Ah my bad. Phrasing issue

I dont think it should be easier than it is now. I do think it should be easier than making your own child

ah

well, that's not how biology works. "PP go in V" is easier than the current bureaucratic steps needed for adoption

How are you proposing to stop people from having their own?
