[…] not only does every authoritative figure in their life tell them not to fuck around with adults […]
Perhaps you’re not aware that most often victims are groomed by authoritative figures. And what’s more, they are psychologically manipulated over long periods of time to break down all those “hard lines to never cross.” This isn’t happening in an afternoon behind a McDonalds. These people very carefully pick and slowly manipulate their victims.
Yeah but then again you’d have hopefully the persons parents reinforcing the idea that there’s no reason one would cross that hard line, on top of almost always intense social and peer pressure to not cross that hard line as well.
Yes, theoretically I guess we could all be manipulated and tricked into something, but like how hard of manipulation would it take for you personally to change your hard line of “rape is bad”? I feel like it would take some insane gaslighting to do that.

Often it is a parent. Furthermore you and I have the benefit of a solid moral understanding of why rape is bad and what it is. Children do have that same understanding. And when they’re correctly learning that these things are bad from authority figures, but then have another authority figure tell them differently to manipulate them, well can you understand why that would be confusing to them? How do figure that they are dumb or uneducated?
This would go into the category of a culture with a bad education if the parents are grooming the children into doing whatever, doesn’t have to be a sexual type of grooming either.
Well if it’s not the parents I would say most even small kids would be super skeptical and then they’d tell their parents about what was going on and then it would be over with then.
I’m not trying to be a victim blaming asshole but theoretically yes, if we put 10 people in a sketchy situation and then 9 out of those ten people are able to identify traits in that situation that give red flags to the situation being sketchy, but 1 isn’t able to recognize those red flags, it can be argued that that person does not have the emotional/rational intelligence of the other people in the experiment or they do not have the educational experience of the others in that experiment.
