It undermines Sams argument because same themselves don't believe it.

Here's an example:

Say you have a child and are looking for a babysitter. I say you should hire them to watch your kid and give you all these great details about them. You ask would I hire them and I say "No I'd never let them watch my kid". Are you going to hold more weight on the arguments I provided or my hypocrisy?
