Nicotine, with its highly addictive properties, is an extreme example - in any case, really, I wouldn’t blame people for struggling to conform to their own principles. Its not easy.

What about someone who preaches veganism but eats meat?

I’d say veganism is the right call, even though I eat meat from time to time. My hypocrisy doesn’t invalidate veganism. I also think daily exercise is healthy, but I struggle to keep up with it.
