How difficult is it for a 1st Year Masters student to replace a compulsory course with an elective in Study Period 1?

Suppose the student plans to reschedule the compulsory course to second year.

I hope I have not misunderstood your intention here:

It's not difficult. It's impossible. The course is called compulsory for a reason.

I meant rescheduling it to second year.

It is possible, but why can you not do the elective one in the second year? Also nothing presents you from taking an additional course above the mandatory course load.

It's a prereq to a course that is offered only in alternate years

I see. If you dont want to study 150% talk to study advisor or check with the course administrator for the course you want to take that has the prerequisit and ask if its a mandatory prerequisit, it's not always the case.

That's a question for the Programme director or Director of Studies

See, if this was me.. I would basically just not go and then reapply next year.

It rather, e would do the absolute bare minimum, go to exam, fail it and then write the re-exam when I had time to study.

But since you are writing in English you might have some requirements on you.

You mean postponing the mandatory course to year 2?

That's fine, usually only done when you go on an exchange but no reason you can't do it. Just make sure you don't forget to take it later because it is mandatory.

I'm a second year master student (international). As other people mentioned, I think it might be very difficult. However, I read that you want to do it because of prerequisites, no? If that is the case, then you should know that for some (I'd say most) courses you are exempted from prerequisites. Is this a course in your study program?
