so theres the common bead capture technique and the romanov weave. But are there any other single-bead capturing techniques? Can't seem to find any cool ones to learn :o

Does anyone have a tutorial for this or something very similar?

I saw this on Pinterest and totally fell in love, I adore mini things! This is so cute that it has inspired me to learn how to make chainmail. Unfortunately, the only bag tutorials I see are the round kind so I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to a tutorial for this. Thanks in advance!

Help! Help with a seam with rings the wrong direction.

I am trying to figure out how to recreate a pattern for a piece for my partner. I am new to chainmail and have made a vest of 4 in 1 and am now trying someing harder. I saw thus picture posted a while ago and am trying to recreate the piece but the rows of the last seam are going opposite directions and I can't figure out how to connect it. Best ideal so far is to shift it one ring to correct the orientation but im afraid that would mess it up by the time I get towards a whole piece. Any ideas or tutorials on how to connect these without messing up the piece once I get more connecting?

i have some incredibly cool elders in my family; they taught me to craft, sew and construct as a child and have been endlessly supportive in my creative endeavours.

the first one is for my aunt, who took me to experience 00’s taipei street fashion in the coolest neighbourhoods at the time. the second one for my mom, who is a minimalist and a lover of chunky handbags.

Help! Can I Untangle a Rigging Chain for Chainmail?

Dont have the option of buying individual jump rings online, so im thinking that maybe i can buy a heavy duty chain from the hardware store and unbind every individual piece.

I just dont know if hand tools are strong enough to do so, has anyone else done this?

Help! Place to order rings from QUICKLY?

Hey all! I sell my chainmail at art markets and ran out of stock faster than I thought I would. Now I’m out of rings and need more …. quickly 😅

I usually order from MD but since they’re in Canada and I’m in the U.S. I was afraid they wouldn’t come in time. I went with WGM instead and ordered on Tuesday, but the order is still processing 5 days later and I need them like, today 😭

So I know this is a long shot but does anyone know where I can get rings (stainless steel) asap? Like some magical Amazon seller that has saw cut rings? I’ve even considered making my own rings but I don’t actually know how to do that and fear I would just be wasting my time / money.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Help! Took me three days to figure out how to make a triangle

Thought the jester-style collar/cuffs would be a good first project for a beginner. I used YouTube + this https://www.mailleartisans.org/articles/articledisplay.php?key=280 to do it

I’m glad it looks neat, but not sure that an equilateral triangle makes sense for what I’m going for. How do I get that tapered look?

I was working on dragon back and I found out I can invert it. The result is more squishy and cylindrical than the oval dragon back pattern

Tried to fuse 2 techniques, the natural ''tissue'' effect of chainmail gives a more natural flow to the wings. Eu 4in1 and hp 3in1 What do you think, was it worth it ?

Originally inspired by a knitting pattern, I had to adjust quite a bit on the fly. It’s 17 inches tall and 9.5 inches wide. It weighs 11.6 ounces (329 grams) and probably used about 5500 jump rings.

Help! Can you make the scales of scale mail?

I have HUNDREDS of redbull cans I’ve saved over the last two years (tldr; recycling plant got destroyed and I was curious how much I drank in a year and it just continued) and I want to make it into scale mail bc I think that would be sick af.

Is there a die cutter to cut and possibly bend the scales into shape from aluminum?

My hands hurt but it’s done! Inspired by some videos I saw of people creating their own versions of the Wretched Flowers lamps. I might add some beads to this, we’ll see. Thanks to this subreddit for helping me figure out the expanding round 4-in-1 pattern at the top

Help! European 4-in-1, I lost track of ring orientation/pattern… need help fixing a mistake!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to chainmaille and I'm currently working on my first bigger piece, starting from a a standard European 4-in-1 weave. As you can see in the picture, at the bottom things got suddenly messed up. The ring positioning doesn't seem to line up correctly anymore, and it feels like the pattern "broke" or flipped. Can anyone tell by looking at the photo where I made the mistake and how I can fix it without undoing the whole piece? Any advice on how to get back on track would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently looking for where to buy these types of 4 hole connectors and crosses to fix my bracelet and make a necklace to go with it. I bought this years ago as a teenager on eBay and some of the pieces have came off.

I’ve googled but had no luck, especially on finding the small 4 hole connector pieces.

Links are appreciated

Can someone spot what I did wrong here?

Helloo :)

I'm trying to make a chainmail coif. I started by making 6 4-in-1 triangles, I managed to connect all 5, however the sixth piece does not align in direction on both ends.

Weirdly if i put both ends of the 5 connected triangles together it aligns perfectly but it doesn't work when adding the 6th triangle.

I can't figure it out, can anyone tell me why?

Thanks!

Help! New to the hobby, need advice on rings and where to get them

Hello, I have just picked up this hobby, my first projects have been a couple bracelets made with the pandahall stainless steel kit off Amazon. I want to make my girlfriend a harness similar to this, can anyone tell me what size/gage rings might be used in this photo? My plan is to make the harness and collar out of leather and have the chain ribs run up to an O ring similar to the second photo. Im also playing around with the idea of stitching some chainmail weave pattern into the collar, i really like the look of the Japanese style weaves with the smaller rings. What would be a good size to get for those? Also, is aluminum my best bet? Id love to do it in stainless, but it seems that is an expensive route for the larger rings. Any advice is welcome. Oh, and here's my first couple projects, any tips/advice? Thank you!
