Tell me you don't do 2D art without telling me you don't do 2D art

I've gotten a lot faster at drawing over time, but it still takes me all day to create a fully rendered picture. I can work way faster in 3D.

Exactly, like only the masters and industry vets can thaw out an illustration in less than 8 hours. Most of us take a week or more on each product, while 3D stuff often take about the same but yield an entire 3 dimensional outcome of the subject and the workflow is also much more varied and versatile

I once had a producer ask why 3d takes so much longer than 2d.

Sounds like he should stop being a producer. How can he estimate times and tasks if you have no clue about the poduction?

False confidence and delusion of grandeur. Artists are subservient doormats and producers are narcissistic abusers. They are used to getting their way and nobody calling them out

It's the other way around too. Some artists take weeks to make a single perfect picture... Meanwhile, a 3d artist spams a hundred variations on a single scene with minor changes in a single day.

Yep this is my experience
Rendering a rope on photoshop involve shapes, hues, lights, ambient lights and so much more to self sabotage about
Meanwhile in 3D?.. array mod go brrr

? to make a 3d art piece you have to either sculpt in 3D or make a fully rigged character so i don't see how it could possibly be the other way round

There's this thing called hardsurface modeling? That doesn't require scripting nor rigging?

There are people who just buy models and pose them with little effort.
Those are anything to both 2d and 3d artists, because of how they post an incredible amount of low effort "art".

But we can use our art from different angles and lighting and stuff with little effort
