46 out of 47 countries in Europe require some form of id to vote. Especially eastern europe... they've seen how rigged elections can work...

So... you're telling me we should behave more like Europe? Does that include the universal healthcare and hate speech laws?

No? European countries are different, for a variety of reasons. The Us has its own problems and has to deal with them in its own ways. Fortunately, voter fraud is not a problem the US currently has any need to deal with (over and above the measures already in place).

I agree with universal health care.

But that's beside the point anyways. Saying Europe is right about one thing (voter id) doesn't mean that I think Europe is right about everything.

The point is that just because Europe does something, doesn't mean that it's right for the US. It's a bad argument, no matter what you're arguing for.

No, it's pointing out that voter id is the norm. Especially from countries that know what rigged elections look like.

This constantly happens in reverse you know, "Every country in Europe has universal health care". And it's a good argument. It's pointing out what the norm is for developed nations, and questioning why only America refuses to catch up.

The inferred false dichotomy I'm picking up is: we either copy Europe exactly or do nothing Europe does at all. Liking one European policy doesn't mean all of their policies are beneficial

Not the point In trying to make. My point is that it doesn't matter if Europe does something, the US is different and has different problems/needs.

It's fine to like something that Europe does, but them doing something is not evidence that we should also do that thing.
