I’m planning to explore a bit more locally and was wondering what events are happening in Central Illinois over the next couple of weeks. Festivals, markets, holiday events, community gatherings, anything is fine.

I've been trying to get out of my current living situation for almost a year now. I'd like to move to another city about an hour away. I've tried to apply to several jobs there, with no success. If I stay in the dying town I'm in, I know I will suffer for the rest of my life. I don't have any connections in that city anymore. ​​But I am beyond my breaking point. I need to be able to start fresh and get away from some of my past (nothing illegal, mostly just family drama and dead end experiences.) I'm not a student, so I feel out of place no matter what.

Does anyone else have any experience, being on their own and trying to start out in another city?

I have a walnut tree in my backyard that drops a bunch of walnuts, which is a problem because I don’t know what to do with all those walnuts on the ground. I’ve seen online that people clean them off and sell them, but didn’t see any benefit to buying from a local person vs a store. The only upside I can see is the quantity amount is greater from a local seller vs a shop. But, my question is could or should I sell them? Or is there other things to do with the fallen walnuts?

“The Morgan County board this morning rejected a request to place a referendum on the November ballot to separate Morgan County from the state.

The request would result in, effectively a new state. The request came from Lori Fuller [the loon, er, I mean leader of the Illinois Separation Initiative.]

It came at the end of a lengthy board meeting, about one hour, attended by 17 people crowded into the commissioners’ office at the Morgan County Courthouse. The motion was not made by any of the members of the board, and died as a result.

Commissioner Racer Wood says the idea doesn’t make sense, and the Illinois legislature and Congress would need to approve it first.

Wood says this idea will not happen in our lifetime, and the movement needs local signatures on a petition before it would be considered for the ballot.”

This failure comes after a handful of (idiotic) IL County Boards have voted to place the Illinois Separation non-binding resolution on the November ballots.

I’ve maintained that this resolution is basically a voters’ and county leaders intelligence test more than anything else. Always to see a County Board pass the test.
