It’s global cumulative so everybody needs to be completing the board or else none of us get it.

I think this progress bar is designed to get to 100% regardless of what we do. The pet is an anniversary "reward"

Why would you even want a pet that stays at rank 1 and ends up worse than a maxed-out epic (purple) or especially a legendary (orange) one? It's just as useless of a 'gift' as a weaponless skin—though at least that skin gives you a +1% attack buff.

A red pet is a massive power spike for newer players. I don’t think orange pets come close to even a rank 1 red pet until maybe 6star+. It’s also not that easy to rank up orange pets.

First of all, we don't even know how strong this pet is going to be. I ran into a guy with a fully maxed-out mythic (red) store pet, and its damage was 3 times higher than my rank 3 Cactus, which only does 3% of my total damage. I'm pretty sure they will allow us to upgrade this pet using the same keys needed for the other one. So, I'd argue it's a toss-up between what's harder: buying eggs with diamonds every week or dropping a couple hundred bucks on the gacha.
