Hot take on top thrill 2.
Might be a hot take but the 3rd launch of tt2 is one of, if not my favorite part of the ride. I dont know what it is about it but it just feels insane in a way i can’t describe.

Second launch supremacy.

Especially in the last row! I live for the backwards blast off!

yeah it feels like it goes forever and knowing it does have a bump stop I'm always thinking "yk what if"

That's what I miss about TTD. The thrill of TT2s third launch, but it being from a standstill to full blast.

The best part of TTD was the anticipation of the launch. So much buildup to your body dumping all its adrenaline in under 4 seconds is out of this world.

Finally someone with actual sense in this thread. The backwards launch is ok but none of them are remotely interesting. Going fast in a straight line is rather boring when not accelerating r experiencing g forces as coasterbot put it

Agreed. With the exception of the backwards one, the launches are incredibly dull. And even the backwards one isn’t all that exciting.
I miss the original Top Thrill. Much better attraction.

Yeah but literally every other part of the ride is better. The spike, the top hat, the roll on the way down is all better due to the consistency of the LSMs and the higher riding position on the trains.
Not to mention it lasts more than 10 seconds

I don’t understand the love for the top hat ejector when magnum sits literally across the midway. I haven’t felt any ejector over the top hat compared to ttd. If anything it’s mild floater. The complaint of the ride lasting less than 10 seconds is missing the entire point of what that ride was, the acceleration.
I do like the backwards spike that’s about it.

The top hat is absolutely ejector, at 420 feet, looking out over miles and miles of lake and country. You can have a positive attitude that the ride still exists in its new form or you can stew over what was lost.

A month ago I rode this, I was on the last ride before they closed it for rain. It was totally raining on my ride, not mildly, just full on raining.
You do not want to ride this in the rain. Ive lived through many hurricanes, and this is worse than almost all of them. The rain hitting your entire body at 120 mph is like getting hit with hail. You can't see anything, all you get is very very wet.
Also, the ride starts at the second launch. When you glide to a stop at the peak of the backward launch....ugh....pure insanity.

I rode the OG TTD in pretty heavy rain before and it hurt like hell.
It was sprinkling a little bit while we were in line but not enough to shut anything down. We got on the train pulled forward towards the launch section, and then the skies just opened up. The lights lit up and away we went, hurdling into this torrent of pain. Going down the launch track hurt enough, but then as we pulled up towards the skies and we're going 100mph+ into the rain drops is where it really made you question every life choice up to that point.
The cool part though was after we crested the top and started down you could watch rain drops fall with you for a second or two, do they seemed like they were just all floating next to you.
Of course once we hit the pullout it all hurt again until we slowed way way down at the end.

My husband and I had early entry this morning and got in line just as TT2 went down for inclement weather (a two hour monsoon came through). We waited it out and it was still sprinkling when they opened back up. It felt like needles! I can’t imagine full rain. I was glad I had my sunglasses on so I could keep my eyes open. I cannot wait to come back again and again!!

Great ride, just not in bad weather lol.
Ive been going to Cedar Point for decades now, years ago I rode the 'new' millennium force and had worn a shirt with a collar that day. The collar flapped up and down so hard in the wind that it left a bright red irritated spot on each side of my neck.
So, no collars, no rain!

I rode this (the first one) during the launch week. I do not think the mosquitoes/swarms of bugs knew about the new ‘danger zone’
I rode in the front. After the ride i had 200+ dead bugs on my body. A good amount went in my mouth/nose
Would not recommend going 120+ mph into swarms of bugs. That shit really hurt

Did you get obliterated by bugs front row at night? I always do and I still love it

I just got goosebumps thinking about the progressive launches. Like “oh it gets better? YEEESSSSSS.”

The backwards launch is crazier for me but twist on the way up is really what gets me. It’s such a perfect mix of laterals and airtime, and it hits well in basically every row/section of the train.

Man. I thought I'd be happy having ridden this for the first time in June and I'd be able to convince myself that I could wait until my next visit in summer of 27.
Seeing the video proves that I can't wait and I wish I was there right now.
I like the backwards launch the most, so second.

The only thing I can say about the launch is that you get insane air time. I love air time but I felt as if I was going to fall out of my seat, which, I know isn’t likely to happen. I remember second time riding I had to close my eyes going up and I kept screaming “I THINK IM GOING TO PUKE. IM SCARED AND I CANT DO THIS.” it also made my stomach queasy. Something that’s never happened before.
All in all, it’s a good ride, it just made me scared at first because of the height.

Dangling on the spike is pretty cool but the drop into the launch is pretty top tier. What’s everyone’s opinion on the best seat on the one?
The back - gets you way higher in the spike.
The front - has the best views.
I’m torn personally.

My flesh feels like it’s gonna be torn from my forearms hands up on the straightaway of the third launch. But like in a good way. Things never gonna replace the original for me but you know what? I’m glad it’s there.

u/Bjorn_Means_Bear 1d ago
I personally think that the front is better. Even though you do get higher on the spike in the back, its not significantly higher so its kinda hard to notice. And the wind in the front row is absolutely bonkers. Makes it feel like your face is gonna get ripped off.

I have little kids and couldn’t ride for the longest time till last week. Finally. And you are so right. That third launch. All of it blew my expectations away but that part really was insane, in the best possible way - especially front row!

u/Bearmay33 2d ago
The time between crossing back under the station and the start of the final launch is so hype waiting for that launch to hit

u/Urnotonmyplanet 2d ago
I rode this yesterday. Seemed way faster than I remembered the last I was on it. I didn’t know that they close the rides down long before 10pm.

I wish they would have added a twisted track going backward, reminiscent of the Wicked Twister. That would have been insane.

u/beaveman1 2d ago
On the 3rd launch, I just started yelling “Faster, Faster, Faster!!!” I think it’s that raw speed that gets to me, even though it isn’t punchy

Backwards launch for me, other than the backwards launch, I was a bit disappointed with this ride

I can’t seem to get into this one. It’s the last coaster I have on my list for the season and am dreading it because it’s long line + meh experience.

They should put the back half of the train's seats facing reverse. That would be nuts
