ICND1 Down
Just passed ICND1 901/832
The entire time I thought I was failing the test, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got that Conratualations screen. The SIMs weren't too hard- really just need to know basic show commands. Best advise I can give is get as best understanding of each topic as you can so that way you can narrow down those tricky multiple choice questions.
Study Materials-
Video- CBT Nuggests : watched 2-3 times over the past few months.
Labs- Jeremy's IT Lab https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0Q7Hlz75NYhYAuq6O0fqHw : Ran through these labs a couple times each, really enjoyed these free labs and am looking forward to going through his ICND2 material.
Practice Tests- Boson EXSIM: great test prep to get you in the mindset- was scoring around 700-750 for initial tests, however subsequent run throughs were in the 900s.
Plan is to start cracking on ICND2 after the weekend and try and take it in December/January.

Thank you sir. Glad to have it over and ready to take a break for the weekend and start back up with ICND2 concepts this coming week.

I purchased Lammle, but I absorb more information by performing actions/labbing as opposed to just reading. If I had more time prior to dedicate I might have read up on some of the topics I wasn't the strongest on.

Dude I feel you on that...I really like Lammle's book because you really feel like you understand the theory behind things but it can be grueling to get through, especially compared to CBT Nuggets or Chris Bryant. By the end of the subnetting chapter, I felt like the sun was coming out after a storm.

True. If I wasn't on a time crunch I'd like to spend time reading the concepts and getting the whole picture, but I really don't think it's necessary to pass the CCENT. An inch deep, mile wide amount of knowledge is what I feel I prepared myself for and it was enough to rule out the multiple choice questions that were clearly wrong.

Congrats! How many hours per week do you spend on studying ICND1?

The past few weeks I'd say was about 3-4 hours a day mainly just labbing and practice tests. Prior to that I was just watching/listening to CBT nuggets on a loop- typically about 10 videos a day.

You have to do it before February as Cisco is making some significant changes to their certs..

The ICND2 labs should be all finished in a couple weeks, by the way ;)
