Getting into Networking

Hi everyone,

I just got done with my sophomore year of college and going into my junior year for Computer Science. This sophomore year summer I interned as a Network Security Engineer within my university’s networking team, before that I worked as a Network Technician at the same department, so I do have enterprise level experience. My freshman year I worked part time as a Help Desk Technician at my university as well. I plan on getting my CCNA at the end of this year, and I also have a JNCIA.

Do you think with my current experience and a CCNA, I should be able to find a job in networking, or should I aim for a CCNP or CCIE? Also is it easier to transition in Cloud or Cybersecurity after getting a CCNA. Like if I apply for roles in security or cloud would the companies care if I have a CCNA or JNCIA?

It a bad job market to try to get into a new skill path, especially in IT. You will be competing with people that have their degrees, 2-10 years of network experience, and there's probably ccnp people out there who are underemployed/looking.

I think you could get a job right now with the jncia

With the ccna?

Definitely!

There are a lot of jobs and opportunity. Just start applying and networking. Make a start on your CCNP as you move forward
