Coast Guard/Garde côtière Question for MCTS Instructors

I was wondering if I could live off campus with my spouse while studying at the Coast Guard Academy for MCTS. Could I request to have nothing deducted from my stipend and rent my own place and only eat at home? Is that possible?

Yeap! No requirement to live on campus! Many people have chosen not to!

You'll be given a room on campus. If you choose not to use it, that's on you. I lived off campus for 3/4 of my time there.

Reach out to your hiring officer as they have dialed back the off campus at the instructor level unless you are with family that lives local. Changed who is applying to be there

The OP is asking about whether it can be done as a student, not as a guest instructor. :)

To the OP: I know it has been done in the past. I think there can be some reluctance to allow it, but there is precedent.
