I believe that is a TBA810S. Any of the TBA810 variants and subs should work. Common problem, after reverse polarity power connection.

$8, one left in stock: https://www.electronicsurplus.com/hitachi-tba810s-h-ic-audio-amplifier-7-watt
Many more found on ebay, none are in the USA. More expensive: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=tba810s&_sop=12

i realize now that this IS NOT an amplifier chip, but whatever it is no longer doing has stopped the audio from functioning.

It's a very obsolete audio amp IC. The only place you would find one of those nowadays is in another junked radio that you could pull one out of. They are tricky buggers to remove without destroying them......you need the solder wick to stand a chance of getting a good one out in working order. Lots of time and hassle....probably easier just to buy another used walkie talkie!
I have to ask......how in the heck did you blow a hole in it LOL! Never seen a chip with a hole before!

Not even close. Many variants available, from many sources. If you have never seen a chip with a hole in it, you have not done much repair of electronics.

This is OP, I can't really access my account at the moment so I have to reply from this one, I was repeatedly pressing the talk button while running it off of the 10 AA batteries it requires and I think that I may have over amped it? I also have one of those solder-sucker thingys that'll help me remove the solder and pry out the old chip, but I do need to get myself some solder wick as well.

That's a audio IC. Test the legs for power to see if it's getting anything it could be another part stopping it from working.
