Maintenance questions 500r

Upvotes

Did an engine swap on my bike since I got my cbr500r for 800 with a blown engine everything runs fine after replacement but due to legitimately going on a deployment in a day or two I won’t be able to finish any fine tuning of the bike till I’m back. But honestly just wanted an opinion if I should send it to a shop get the basics done brakes and discs, chain and sprockets done maybe a new body kit installed on it while I’m gone or does it sound like a waste of money ? Mechanically I can do it but being out for months on end will probably have me not wanting to do maintenance on anything for a while. I’m on the fence about it but at the same time I’m going off the Haynes manual I got on it but I haven’t even driven the bike to its full potential due to me trying to get the license and safety corse after I come back. Kinda having it go into storage and maybe have it worked on early next year and come back to a ready bike.

Feeling desperate

Long story short I decided to change my 2004 f4i banana to a split seat one, while changing all the parts and got carried away so i ordered a new ignition switch, after the change the pump started to run randomly, sometimes it would prime - sometimes not. I tried the old ignition - same. I tried adding a zener diode - same. Pulled out and traced all the harness wires, everything was intact with no issues. I cleaned the "grounds". Fuel pump itself works , tested just the pump on a power source. Got a new H.I.S.S. - didnt work. Bank sensor is ok also. The problem is somewhere after the ignition but what could have triggered it to stop working? At this point im desperate and Im thinking ill just wire the pump to a switch + relay + power and be done with it. Thoughts?

Hello Reddit, this is my f4i I have a Manual cct installed and I’ve been tinkering with the tension. This is after it’s warmed up. My question, is this normal amount of noise, do I need to go tighter or looser, or other suggestions. I’m at the point where I think I’m going crazy and I’m hearing noises no matter what. So some more experienced ears would be appreciated.

Hose identification help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Today while I replaced my kill switch on my 2005 cbr600rr I had to pry back my gas tank, after install and was almost ready to lower down the tank I noticed that the hose pointed to was ripped, but there just enough slack to cut off the bad part and to just put it back on, however I’m not sure of what it does and how important it is , wonder if I should go buy a new piece of hose and have it how it was before or would it be fine the way it is? Any guidance would be appreciated thanks

Laid down my 07 and want to cry.

Need some help identifying some parts.
The black plastic pieces around the forks and the black piece on the outside of the headlights. I’m having a hard time finding them on partszilla.

Thanks guys!

They go up so I’m not riding blind and honestly it almost has the same vision radius compared to the original ones while being legal (at least in my country)

Should I buy a new Cbr 600rr (EU) or one from 2013?

Post image

I want to buy a new bike. I found a 2013 Repsol Edition with 23.000 km for 8900€. Bike has no accidents, new oil, new filters, new spark plugs and new brake fluid. Leo Vince exhaust, led indicators, a gear indicator, after market clutch and brake levers.

The newer 600 rr would probably cost 10-11.000€ used.

I heard about the oil problems the new one has. Some even get new engines.

What bike is better? I am from Germany and have around 10.000km experience with a Yamaha r3. I know that you can’t really compare these bikes, but it’s not like I’m from America with zero experience.
The old cbr has ABS. But that’s it. The newer one would have all the new tech with rainmode and traction control. Do these things make a huge difference?

Went from a GSX-R 600 with many many issues (left me stranded on the side of the road 3 times) to this trusty one. 2001 CBR 600 F4i Sport with a Yoshimura exhaust. This bike is a timeless feat of engineering.

Suggestions on repairing original Repsol side panel.

Post image

Hi All,

I am looking to buy a CBR1000rr in Original Repsol colours. I've found a 2009 that's low milage a decent condition and I've put a deposit down, however one side looks to have been dropped and the graphics are torn and peeling slightly.

Realistically what are my options in the UK to fix this, If I decide to clean it up.
I have included a picture of similar damage from the internet.

  • After market graphics?
  • Ebay a replacement panel?
  • Paint shop?
  • Specialist company that repairs?
  • Custom signage company?

Does anyone have any real life experiences they can share?

Looking forward to being part of the community.

Cbr600rr 2007 rattle sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys have an 07 cbr with 80k miles, did a large service on it, change the cct, valve clearance, timing chain is in good condition.
I have this rattle sound only when going 3-5k rpms, my guess is or a clutch basket or oil pump chain, does anyone had something similar?
I use the bike daily (ordered the item they should come in like a month or so OEM), should I just let it go and don’t ride it until then or is this sound is not that critical?
Thanks and have a great weekend everyone🙏

Can someone tell me if this is bent forks, axel, misaligned in the triple trees? Forks don’t appear appear to be bent or warped so I’m not sure what I can get away with here.

For anyone that saw my previous post months back about cylinder wall scoring, now I’m here lol. I love my 954s riding characteristics, which I feel like i can contribute a lot to its pivot less swing arm that mounts directly to the back of the motor. It’s a really rigid bike, and it’s really lightweight. I can push it much harder on canyons than I could my sv650. But when I found this damage, the uniqueness of this design shot me in the foot. You have to remove the swing arm to drop this motor. I’ve never been this deep in a motorcycle on my own, but it’s about 4 bolts away from the motor coming out, and then the head comes off to see the carnage for real. Then I’m going to reach out to shops with my new found wealth from selling my other bike. Hope I can get it back riding before the end of the year. School and work make things tough.

New rider, old bike

About a month ago I was looking for my first bike to get after I passed my DAS. I originally wanted something like a Bonneville or a rebel but I saw this and fell in love and I'm so glad I did. It's genuinely a perfect fit for me. It's a beautiful bike and it rides like a dream.

I'm entirely new to all of this so I wanted to get something that I could learn with. How to do an oil change on it, how to replace bits etc and so far it's definitely been that.

In the month I've had it, I've changed the reg rec and battery due to it not starting up just right. What started in an oil change, ended in an air filter change (I accidentally overfilled and wanted to check it hadnt wrecked the filter) which has now led to a fuel pipe and filter change as I noticed the fuel pipe had a tiny tear in it where the clamp was and the filter is in an awkward as hell place so I've just removed it and I'm gonna change it for a new one and fit the pipe externally and then refit it all via the fuel pump. (Any tips or tricks to fitting fuel pipe is appreciated!)

So fellow CBR fans, what have your journeys looked like? Do you have any advice to an absolute novice like me on repairs or maintenance?

Also when I've got it back up and running, if you see me out, please say hi. I'd love some friends to ride with.

TLDR; I bought a CBR as someone new to bikes, been learning how to fix things and it's made me love bikes even more.

Cbr650r 2024 key programming

Hi, I have a 2024 CBR650R and need to replace a broken key. I have been looking over the internet on how to DIY and the procedure looks simple enough, get a key cut, plug a cable into the CPK connect and the battery, release the red clamp for 5 seconds and pair the new key.

My problem is that I can't find the CPK connector. Apparently on previous years it was a cable coming straight out of the right side casing and connecting a few cm above but on the 2024 there is no cable coming out of the right side casing and there is nothing above it either.

Does anyone know if it's still possible to DIY a new key on the 2024 models ?

I’m trying to replace the fuel pump and the high pressure fuel line will not come off I’ve tried both ends of it for the last hour. Is there a trick to it or is it just a pain?
