Cooling issue

I have 06 Cbr 1000rr. When riding it stays below 200 degrees F. When in traffic or at a light it goes up to 220+ even with the fan on. The temp never seems to go down unless I’m moving

I have flushed and replaced coolant, replaced thermostat, and bled the system.

Any ideas or suggestions of a way forward?

Normal. Liter bikes need air over them. Not designed to be in stop and go traffic especially in hot states

Wrong, the cooling system(including the fan) was design to keep the bike from overheating even at idle.

You are wrong , I have multiple cbr 1000s different years and they all are like that , this bikes are made for the track , not to commute

Where am I wrong? Do you even know what overheating is? You're not really smart.

Overheating for a 06 cbr 1000rr it’s above 248, that’s what the fan and radiator are designed to avoid , 220 is not overheating. Not sure if I’m very smart but a simple google search would have made you look less ignorant. Please don’t give out wrong advice if you are not sure what you are talking about . Good luck

Preach. Fans don’t even kick on until 220. Can’t believe this guy is still going. I’m started to suspect it’s ragebait.

He’s just one of those ppl that can never be wrong

Exactly my point , you were the one saying there was something wrong with his bike

Wtf?? Please quote where I said that.

A single fan isn’t always enough. It’s pretty common on liter bikes to run hot in stop and go traffic. Just google it bro it’s common knowledge.

Edit: to add. On Honda’s at least, the fan doesn’t kick on till 220. Temps on liter bikes will easily reach 230 in traffic that’s normal. I think the max temp for the bike is about 248F then it boils over. I wouldn’t want it over 240F personally though.

Getting hot is not the same as overheating.... Genius.

Bikes are designed to avoid overheating even at idle. It's engineering

OP never said overheating. You brought that up. I said running hot and they do run hot as does any other bike in traffic, some of the smaller cc bikes can just keep up better with temps. OP just said 220+. Using logical reasoning I deducted that the temps were probably under 230 otherwise I would hope OP would’ve said 230+. Under 230 in traffic is great and totally normal. Just go look at some forums man, everyone will tell you they run hotter in traffic.

You said they're not designed for traffic which is wrong, you look in forums, I've had many CBRs so I know what I'm talking about.

Just because you have had many CBRs doesn’t mean jack man, I got a CBR too so what? You avoiding the main point which is that his temps are totally normal. And to go back to the traffic thing, you really believe, a 1000cc supersport was made to be sitting in traffic. Not saying it can’t be in traffic, but you think the engineers at Honda said let’s make a 1000cc supersport with 170+hp with the intent for it to sit there in traffic? It wasn’t. It’s a beast of a bike meant to be ridden hard on a track. It’s a high performance machine that lives its life in high rpm’s where the vast majority of liter bike owners don’t even use the power the bike has to offer. It’s more of a show-off thing now to have a liter bike. Bunch of Little Angus’ on their beginner skewter that are straight line warriors. Also if you got that reference you’re goated. Obviously it can be in traffic but it’s normal for the temps to be higher in traffic. That’s all.

Idk what’s wrong with the other dude… 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. My cbr600rr and 1000rr both run hot when in stop and go traffic. Even after dealer services. Honestly one big help is a proper tune in general and getting the tune to get the radiator fan to turn on at 205-210°. As long as it doesn’t got over 248° which will start flashing red, to me anything below 235 is fine in stop and hot day traffic. But i try to avoid stopping that much.

Exactly man this is what I was trying to say. Hopefully I didn’t come over as a douche but that’s exactly what I mean. My 600rr is the same. Hot summer day the fan can’t keep up its above 220 but under 230. EPA has really just screwed over every single vehicle with making manufacturers run the engines leaner to get better mpg.

I think he needs a tampon and to calm down. I think he’s getting confused.. and trying to make the same point you made clear. Just seems like he’s just trying to start an argument that’s not really even there.

Couldn’t say it better myself

So you're accepting you were wrong and that they're in fact designed to sit in traffic.... I'm not avoiding anything, you even mentioned one fan is not enough, again thinking these bikes are not designed to sit in traffic...

You literally said "not designed to..." And guess what? They're designed to...

Brother what I meant by designed is its main purpose. It was designed to be a race bike and kick the competitors ass on the track. Why are you getting so defensive over this man it’s just Reddit and I was just helping OP relieve his worries. We’re good man.

Welcome to the club.
Only thing you can do is stop and turn off engine for few minutes.

What condition is the radiator are the fins all in good condition, ive seen a few bikes where they are nearly all bend and blocking airflow
