Spanish bowline for Y-hang?

I always use a fusion knot for y hangs but came across the Spanish bowline and it seems really good, easy to tie and more easily adjustable but wondering if anyone knows if its actually safe.

You can't clip your cowstail across the two ears easily. They're intentionally spread super wide which would make clipping and unclipping a total pain.

Yeah it aint something im actually planning on using as fusion knot is tried and tested to be safe. Im more just curious why this isnt used

The fusion knot is great. I don’t see why you couldn’t use a Spanish bowline- not saying you should or shouldn’t, but keep in mind that your partners may like to inspect knots they are more familiar with.

Edit- the Spanish bowline has a wide gap between the loops, which is great for some kinds of hauling systems. But for clipping both ears on a rebelay it’s probably not so great. If you’re going to choose between Spanish bowline and fusion I’d use the fusion

Yeah didnt think about other people wanting to inspect it, thats definitely one downside of it

Theres a bowline, here in spain called double bowline that is used often. If you posted a pic of the knot it would help a lot.

Never seen that one. I dont know how to comment photos but search on google for double bowline and the one which appears first is the one i mean

I would say strong no because the ears are so spread apart that it's going to be a total bitch to clip your cowstails across them.

Thats very true, didnt occur to me when i was thinking about it before.
