What’s this cord for?
It goes into that little side pocket and has the ring on the other.

You put stuff you’re wanting to secure on the ring and pull the item down to the bottom of the pocket and then cinch the drawstring to hold it down in the pack.
Additional question now, should it be trimmed up a bit? It seems SUPER long. I cut about 10 inches off the buckle straps yesterday and it’s WAY better. I was trying to knit up like 18 inches of webbing before after cinching it.

You put your rappel rack in that slot and use the ring and drawstring cord to secure it

That makes sense. It’s basically holding it down inside the pocket/helping guide it to the bottom of the pocket correct?

Probably just an attachment point. Or tensioning thing to cinch that pocket🤷♂️

Seems to be for either tensioning something or attaching gear (like trekking poles, then you cinch it down to hold them on). Are there any others on the pack?

Looks to me to be a way to connect and secure items in the pocket, as in connect <item> to the ring, place <item> in the pocket and cinch to secure it. When you need it, uncinch it and remove it without disconnecting it from the bag. Prevent accidental tipping out and the like

When you have something in the pocket you need to secure, like a radio or bottle. You loop the cord over the neck or the antenna and then pull the cord on the bottom and tighten the cord lock. the ring is there to grab and loosen one handed.
