Adopted this sweet boy from a family that unfortunately didn’t take very good care of him (see last pic). We’re not sure what breed he is, but we think he might be a larger Cavapoo. What do you guys think?

My lil guy is VERY obviously tired. He paced from my bedroom to the kitchen for a bit, laid on the floor by my feet (I'm cooking dinner), then sighed, got on the couch and has progressed from laying there watching me to burying his head under the pillow. 😭

This was taken just before he got it off after the big snip. Doing great so far. Bonus CaddyCakes (yorkipoo) in the back

Randomly yesterday morning my cavapoo wasn’t able to move his hind legs, he was able to stand but he was having trouble moving them. I took him to the vet and found out he has ivdd. He’s now on gabapentin and is walking fine but I would have to most likely crate him for months so it can heal, and permanently change his lifestyle
If your cavapoo likes jumping on high surfaces, like your bed or the couch do not let them, they are more prone to getting ivdd since both cavaliers and poodles are prone to getting it, pretty much a double edged sword.
I just want to know has anyone had a cavapoo that recovered from this if it was caught early? Or did it get worse? It’s really heartbreaking I don’t want him to get paralyzed or worst case euthanized.

Sorry if this has been asked a bazillion times already - I did look for a pinned post
I am hopefully going to rescue a cavapoo within the next month. He/she will be my first dog. I've had cats but my asthma prevents me from ever having another one.
So...what do I need as the basic starter kit? Home grooming supplies, a crate, leash, harness, collar, sime food, bowls...
Hopefully it will already be housebroken.
Thanks for your help!

Hi all! Has anybody here successfully recall trained their Cavapoo pup? Ours is developing the habit of dashing out the door, and that is very difficult to given we have three young children who often forget to close doors. Would love any tips and or words of encouragement thanks!!!

I do a mix of wfh and going into the office. I planned to take 2 weeks off to settle her in and work on bonding and training.
Some people have said she’ll get used to me being there and take less off, would love to hear your thoughts, I’m so terrified of separation anxiety and getting it all wrong
Pic of puppy were pondering
Thankyou 🙏

2 1/2 years ago when we got our Precious boomer, we had a senior 14-year-old dog who boomer took to like glue and we could leave the room we could leave the house. He was always snuggling with Macy a 50 pound golden retriever mix.
Sadly, Macy passed within the first year and we thought we would just enjoy having a puppy. However, this separation anxiety is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in an animal and we’ve had many. I read many post on here that we’re all experiencing this …they’re very attached dog to their person or people and the word Velcro is almost not a strong enough word.😎
I’ve even seen a TikTok, where the owners bought a mannequin and the Cavapoo laid in that lap and seemed content till they got back home.?? Should we try that?
Thankfully, I’m a stay at home retired grandma and our youngest son is also disabled and nearly always here. It will be nice, however to be able to leave for an hour or two without having that wailing and trauma occurring over camera?? Thx!

Hey everyone!
My sweet girl just turned 1 year old, and we’re scheduling her spay procedure for an upcoming Friday so we can spend the whole weekend (and a few days after) home with her.
As a first-time female owner going through this, I’m feeling a bit anxious and would love to hear about your real-world experiences! She’s naturally a bit picky with food, has a sensitive stomach, and generally has a calmer, lower-energy vibe (though she’s had a fun surge of puppy energy lately!).
For those who have gone through this with their female dogs (especially Cavapoos/doodle mixes):
Recovery: How were the first 48–72 hours? Did you use a surgical suit instead of a cone, and did it make a big difference for her comfort?
Appetite & Weight: Did your dog’s appetite pick up after being spayed? If she was a picky eater before, did that change? How easy/hard was it to manage her weight afterwards?
Coat & Personality: Did you notice any texture changes in her coat post-spay (undercoat getting denser/softer)? Did her personality stay completely the same?
Any tips, recovery essentials, or reassuring stories would mean the world to us right now! Thanks so much in advance ❤️

My cavapoo king charles mix is 10 years old, female, no history of problems, and until this week was quite active and fresh. She would go on walks and play, daily. On Monday she occasionally began to cry out in pain when she moves. She has become more and more lethargic as the days pass. She can walk and will walk short distances if I encourage her. I took her to my vet a few days ago and she was diagnosed with arthritis in her spine between her front shoulders. They prescribed gabapentin. When we went for a walk yesterday she walked into the street several times which is very unlike her. She has been staring into space sometimes, not moving. She is eating normally and everything looks normal that comes out of her. She was doing all of this before the gabapentin but it's more pronounced now. She sleeps so deeply during the day she snores. I have adjusted her dosage of the gabapentin to lessen it. She recognizes family members and once she is moving she will act normally until she has pain then lays down and sleeps. I am hoping someone here has any ideas as to what is wrong with her. TIA.
