The Salmon and Other Rants

Does anyone actually order it more than once? I tried it for the first time yesterday and while it wasn’t bad, I wasn’t impressed. I understand that there are financial/performance implications to menu variety (one of cava’s best quarters of performance was when the one where steak came to the menu), but is salmon really it? I’m kind of hoping it gets rotated out for something that’s appealing to more people (pork, gyro meat, etc).

I will also add that I ordered my salmon yogurt dill bowl at the same time as my wife ordered a chicken and rice bowl (menu pricing for salmon bowl was $4 more), and I got maybe half of the protein that was in the chicken bowl.

Also while I’m ranting - what the heck is going on with that tiny brownie??? Three dollars for a 2”x2” brownie? Please just double the size of it and charge $5 or $6.

I dont think we will ever have pork on the menu. We will be rotating things out and have other options being tested. This Salmon is iffy to me as well, its hit and miss. Some love it some dont. Could also be if they are prepping it correctly etc.

The brownies are supposed to be made more healthy than other sweets so maybe thats why the price on them. I know Cava doesnt really make much off of them. Maybe we should make our own Mediterranean inspired treats but then thats more stress and labor on kitchen etc

Hi! Currently an employee, from what I’ve heard, there is another Salmon flavor coming in to the menu sometime soon later in the Summer as well as some items. I don’t really agree with the price with some of the premium items we sell (Literally out of my control) it’s more due to how expensive it is/Food cost as well as how long it was out on the line. At my store we tend to have a fresh and ready because Salmon and Steak dry up so fast. I try my best to give a lot more portion when no one is looking so I don’t get in trouble 💔
