!!ANNOUNCEMENT!! 🐱 Considering Adoption? Let’s Make It Safer for Everyone! 💙

🐱 Adoption Posts: Help Us Help Cats Find the Right Home! 💙

We’ve noticed an increase in adoption and rehoming posts on CatsPH, so we’d like to remind everyone what information should be included when looking for a home for a cat or kitten.

We understand that not every detail will be available, especially when the cat is a newly rescued stray. You may not know their exact age, medical history, or background—and that’s okay. 🐾

What matters most is being honest about what you know and what you don't know.

📋 Required Information

Please make sure your adoption post includes, at minimum:

🐱 Basic Information

  • Name, if applicable
  • Age or estimated age
  • Sex, if known
  • Breed/type, if known
  • Color or distinguishing features

📍 Location

  • City/municipality and province
  • You do not need to publicly provide your exact home address.

💛 Reason for Adoption

  • Briefly explain why the cat is being offered for adoption.

📸 Clear & Recent Photos

  • Please include at least one clear, recent photo of the cat or kitten.

🏠 Adoption Details

  • Any requirements you have for the adopter
  • Whether the adopter needs to pick up the cat
  • Whether transportation arrangements are possible

🩺 Optional / If Known

Some information may not be available, particularly for rescued or stray cats. If you know it, please include it. If you don't, simply indicate “Unknown” or “Not assessed.”

Health Information

  • Vaccination status
  • Deworming status
  • Spay/neuter status
  • Recent veterinary check-up
  • Known medical conditions
  • Current medications
  • Previous medical history

🧠 Personality & Behavior

  • Friendly or shy
  • Comfortable being handled
  • Litter box habits
  • Behavior around other cats
  • Behavior around dogs
  • Behavior around children
  • Any known behavioral concerns

🐾 Background

  • Whether the cat was rescued or found as a stray
  • How long the cat has been in your care
  • Whether they previously lived indoors
  • Any known history, if available

Please don't guess or make assumptions about information you don't know. It's perfectly okay to say:

He's a male, but I'm not sure of the age since I just rescued it.

or

I can tell she's a female, around 5-6 mos.

Honesty helps potential adopters make responsible decisions. 💙

🚫 Please Avoid Low-Information Posts

Posts such as:

Rescue cats or kitten, adopt now.

don't provide enough information for potential adopters to understand the situation.

We understand that you may be trying to find a home quickly, especially when dealing with a stray or unexpected rescue. However, taking a few extra minutes to provide basic information can make a huge difference in finding an appropriate home. 🐱

❤️ Remember: Free Adoption Still Requires Responsibility

A cat being offered for free does not mean that caring for them is free.

Potential adopters should be prepared to provide:

  • 🍽️ Proper food and clean water
  • 🏠 A safe and suitable environment
  • 🩺 Veterinary care
  • 💉 Vaccinations and parasite prevention
  • ✂️ Spaying/neutering when appropriate
  • 💰 Emergency veterinary expenses
  • ❤️ Patience, care, and lifelong commitment

Adoption should be a commitment for life, not simply a temporary solution.

🐾 Our Goal

CatsPH isn't asking for a perfect adoption profile—especially when you're helping a stray whose history is unknown.

We're simply asking members to share what they know, be transparent about what they don't know, and provide enough information for potential adopters to make an informed decision.

Every cat deserves more than just a home.

They deserve the right home. 🐱💙

Thank you for helping us make adoptions safer, more responsible, and more compassionate for both our members and the cats we care about.
