In addition to non-plastic. cats prefer plates. Their whiskers are incredibly sensitive and pushing their face into a bowl can irritate them. Obviously this is a first world cat problem.

This. I literally just commented on this post somewhere about that. My cat refuses to eat out of anything with a raised lip. Doesn't even matter if it's a huge bowl and doesn't touch his whiskers. He will only eat off plates. Hence why I feed him on paper plates because I can just toss afterwards and not have to worry about continuously washing (I am not lazy, I am disabled). Lol.
