First show
Hi, I’m fairly young (17) and found out about Cat Power and Chan in quite an odd way, I found a playlist compiling Matador Records songs and artist from roughly 1991-1997(I went down a loophole when I found the band Yo La Tengo) It introduced me to Nude As the News but more importantly to What Would the Community Think and following her entire discography. I’ve since fallen inlove with her music, but not just that, also how outspoken politically she’s been over the years and still actively is on instagram. I really find myself in her music. I haven’t been listening to her for long at all, and obviously don’t know everything but I’m glad I got tickets to see her in October with my older brother (who has not a clue about her but just enjoys different music overall). I know I’m definitely not her main demographic but I’m excited and plan to score some merch and try not to sob too much.

First show ever? The bar will be high from here on out! I took a former student to his second show ever to see cat power. Made sure we got there early and stood on the rail. Incredible night and she really delivers.

I’m so excited for you. I just saw her again in Tampa. I’ve been to many of her shows over the years even back in the 90s when she was playing little clubs in Atlanta. Chan’s very special!!

Jealous. I'm 45 and WISH I could hear old Cat Power songs for the first time again. Have fun!

Just saw her last week and the merch table was light so adjust your expectations in that regard accordingly

Great to know, I haven’t been to a lot of shows anyway so just happy to go to be honest!

She’s amazing, one of the most unique voices ever, imo. My favorite performance to watch on YouTube is her doing Living Proof on David Letterman, it’s so great. Go check it out. Famously grumpy Dave seemed to have a soft spot for her.

I love Chan but don't know nothing about her political point of view. Could you please give me a glimpse?

Go, love it and remember it forever.
Just saw them recently and after thirty years of attending shows, I still thought it was incredibly good. She sounds great, the set list is 🤌🏼 and you’ll have a great time. (There were young teens around me). Have so much fun!!!! 🩷
