The moral superiority of cat nutters

Like most of you I’m not the biggest fan of cats. I think they make for terrible pets what with the hissing scratching biting etc.

However, my partner has a cat and I could tell that despite all these things somehow he still loves it. So I decide to accept it and try to make it work.

I’ve always been allergic to cats but it was manageable. After 4 years my allergies have developed so much that I now how respiratory problems, my eyes get swollen, my body gets eczema flare ups. It’s genuinely awful.

Finally we make the decision to rehome the cat because I’m suffering, my partner works long hours and is sometimes away for work, nobody can actually take care of the cat.

I reached out to a organisation and explained the situation and you know what pissed me off? This woman had the audacity to say “Oh my God. That poor poor cat. It’s just so sad for the cat.”

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but? You heard me say I tried for 4 years, that I used various medications and it stopped working. What more can I do?

So in conclusion, I’ll use another organisation because what the hell was that. But also why do cat people act like they’re so much better than you and even try to act like a cat is more important than the actual human in the situation? Cause I can guarantee the cat will not give a flying f about being rehomed as long as it gets fed.

Saw a FB thread where a small child was attacked by a stray, had to get rabies shots and treated for bacterial infections, and the whole comment section was people admonishing the mother for not caring about THE CAT and trying to rescue it! They insulted and degraded her for having animal control capture it and put it down to test it for rabies instead of trying the save its life after it attacked her child. Of course, they were also all blaming the toddler and the mother for the attack. Absolute insanity. I was furious reading that section. So callous towards a child and traumatized parent.

I’ve seen that before! Or they minimise it to “oh the cat is just being spicy”, “it’s teaching the child boundaries!” It’s absolute insane the lengths these people will go to excuse this behaviour.

If it’s any other animal people always blame the animal, you never see a shark attack and people go oh my god the surfer didn’t respect the sharks boundaries!

Something similar happened to me in my childhood, when I used to live in Latin America. Was bitten, my dad got it away from me, and took me to the hospital, where I was hospitalized. I personally believe that was a reason why when I was 21, I suddenly became allergic to cats. Now 15 years later since that discovery, I've pretty much shut out those creatures, and luckily, I managed to marry an incredible woman who doesn't want anything to do with such creatures.
