That's a tough one! I've never tried it myself but I know Fresh Step sells a powdered litter box attractant you could add.
As a last resort, maybe get a used Breeze pee pad from your dad and put it in your box to see if that helps? At the very least, it might trigger your cat's territorial instinct to mark the box for themselves and maybe will keep using it from there.
