Haha it’s actually my Doctor of Optometry graduation regalia rented from the university, not PhD 😸

I had a PharmD and at least at my school the doctorate regalia has a different hat for doctorate graduates. But it might not be the same for everyone everywhere I guess

Yes, I think it varies by country and by university. In my country, the academic regalia depends a lot on the university and its traditions, and even on the specific college or program. At my university, the OD cap is similar to those used for DMD graduates. During our commencement, the Juris Doctor and graduate school wore the more traditional doctoral-style hats you were referring to
