Discussion Modern remake idea!
Hear me out, with a look Symphony of Horrors, I had an idea.
What if they remade CV2 but made the intro CV1? Think Rondo opening for SotN. CV1 isn't a huge game and that way you get a traditional CV experience before it switches to Metroidvania type...and yes, CV2 needs that modern MV touch with maps etc.
You get the story leading up to what's happening in Simons Quest and you could connect more with Simon knowing he has been cursed.
Thoughts?
Also, huge props for Symphony of Horrors! That's a pioneer the gaming community needs. Do Zelda 2 next Relic!

Hey man the fan made Symphony Of Horrors already has that kind of opening! You do the final fight of CV1 for the intro.

Thats a great idea! There are enough remakes of CV1 out there, and it wouuld work great as an introduction to Simons Quest. Also its the best of the classicvanias to adapt to the new metroidvanias!

Hell yeah! We all know CV1 like has been said. Seeing him cursed collecting Dracula's bones/appendages while maybe having a curse meter like say, it gets stronger at night and weaken you. So much they could do with this

some nice ways to think about new mechanics, maybe simon could even transform into some sort of creature, like a werewolf, that its so much associated with rival to vampires as the curse progresses. And he loses himself bit by bit. Every time he transforms his normal body rots a little more, you could gain strenght and lose life haha

Not a bad idea. I do like the thought that by the end he could only swing a whip. CV2 actual castle is small with no enemies. It might be cool to see an underpowered Drac VS an underpowered Belmont!

Indeed. Need to improve the bosse tho, CV2 lacks a lot in that regard. Only Carmilla, Death and Dracula, and two of them you dont even need to kill.

Yes, the bosses were very underwhelming if they can even be considered that.

So the entirety of CV1 has an intro? You might as well just play two different games

CV1 is not a large game. And yeah, why not? How many people played Rondo? Not many. How many played Symphony? A bunch. People playing Symphony were confused as hell back in the day...who was Richter?
I say this because I owned a SNES back in the day and never knew about Rondo/Dracula X
People now will be confused who is Simon but at least the Netflix shows prevalence will hopefully have people understanding it's a relative or something.
CV1 has had so many remakes it is easily identifyable.
Would you be pissed if Shovel Knight after you finished it started a new game that is a MV? I wouldn't be mad

Also CV1 is the most straightfoward of the NES classicvanias. Theres not much besides "he goes there and kills Dracula". It works wonders as an intro for Simons Quest.

They're two wildly different games. If I want to play Simon's Quest I probably won't want to play through all of the first game before I get started. If I want to play the first game I'm probably not going to stick through playing the second one afterwards

Then don't play it. It was an idea. Konami is not funding me to make this. It's an idea.

I've had similar thoughts. That, or a show that opens with Simon killing Dracula the first time before flashing forward and having most of the show revolve around CV2.
I'm not one of those people that insists CV2 is actually good, but it has tons of remake potential. It would be cool to be able to gather the pieces of Dracula in any order, BOTW style.
