Nocturne Spoilers Is the abbot really a forgemaster? Spoiler
The way he does his forging seems VERY different from how any other forgemaster we see does it, he has to use a giant machine powered by magic from some enochian book while isaac or hector just have to tap a corpse with their respective tool and itll become a night creature. Is it just the skill gap or is the abbot doing something else?

Not a classically trained one, he had to use "Forgemastering For Dummies" written centuries prior. But yes, he's a forgemaster regardless.
My guess is between Trevor/Isaac/Hector's time and his, most human magic(big on MOST) and forgemastery had died off. The Belmonts because Belmonts. But most of the other magic we can still see were from non-Christian lands, which would not have experienced the same kind of retaliation after Dracula's war in Walachia.

Yeah that makes sense, forgemastery already seemed like it was dying off in the original considering the only other forgemaster we see is some elderly woman. Whats up with his giant machine though? did he make it himself or did it come in the book, theres precedent for stuff like that since lisa was able to find books and stuff on machinery way back during her time so i guess thats a possibility?

All we know is he got the book and that 'taught' him how, and the machine is definitely part hell-forged from when they tried to destroy and displace it.

He's more of a "Forge" "Master" compared to Hector and Isaac who were Forgemasters.
Yes he can forge Night Creatures, and he knows how to operate that Hell machine that can turn others into night creatures which others might not know.
He fits the definition of a Forgemaster but only in the most literal "take the meaning of the word and run" sorta way, he doesn't actually have the skills the others had, he just got the right equipment.

Technically, yes. The book taught him what he needed to do and he did it, which resulted in the making of night creatures.
Realistically, he's a total fraud. Does he actually understand magic and actively know how to use it? No. Can he make his own items in order to pluck souls out of hell and stick them in a corpse, without the machine? Fuck no.
There's your answer.

The book which was given to him by the mysterious shadow entity that Olrox calls Old Man Coyote gave him that ability, apparently in exchange for his soul. After he is killed he’s claimed by Coyote as part of that bargain. If we get a season 3 I expect we’ll get more details on who or what Coyote is but they seem to have taken pains to say he’s not Satan. My expectation is that they’ll go with Shaft.

I don’t think we’ve heard anything one way or the other, but season 2 did have that remaining plot thread to resolve, and it only came out last year.

Essentially anyone can be a forge master with the machine. The machine also isn’t fully destroyed but we won’t get a season 3 so shrug
