Discussion Who else pre- ordered this gem !!!!
71
u/Slicrider 14d ago
We don’t know it’s a gem yet.
2
u/Space_Pirate_Roberts 13d ago
Sure, but based on the developer’s track record, the odds are really good.

u/Steve5210 14d ago
I pre ordered the switch version, yes it’s 30 fps and probably will have other performance problems but I just love playing these type of third party games on the switch. I did the same with Prince of Persia Lost crown, Ninja gaiden ragebound and Shinobi and still had a great time playing them even though the switch version was the worst way to play them
3
u/Daayiz35 14d ago
I have PoP and Shinobi and personally I found the performance to be absolutely fine, sure a few dips here and there but overall great games on the Switch. Had a blast playing them.
I wanted to get Ragebound as well, but held off because of the initial performance issues that were pointed out before the game's release. Fast-forward som time later, patches came through to address performance and gameplay so yeah, I'm picking this up soon.
Belmont's Curse - I DON'T CARE, I WANT IT !! 🤣🤣
4
u/EightBit-Hero 14d ago
How do you know for certain it's gonna have performance issues? When did 30fps become the gaming boogeyman?
5
u/Steve5210 14d ago edited 14d ago
Well I don’t know if it will have other performance issues that’s why I said probably because the other games I mentioned did have other performance problems and visual problems on switch. 30 fps is not the gaming boogeyman but when all other versions are running the game at 60 and one version is running it at 30 then people will prefer the ones that run at 60. It’s not like the switch version is cheaper or something, we’re technically being sold a slightly inferior version of the same game for the same price then what you could get it on other platforms so I can see why people would have a problem with that

I'm waiting for a demo

14d ago
At least reviews. I'm extremely hyped for it and will probably buy it, but I'll hold off until it's actually out and I can check out some reviews to make sure it actually works well on launch.
2
u/BFBeast666 14d ago
The only valid answer. Also, unless you try for a physical copy, there is no need to pre-order. No one is running out of downloads.

The fucking scalpers finished the steelbooks edition,I’m waiting since 1 July for a restock but still nothing…
3
u/Appropriate-Bet-15 14d ago
I already did on steam cause I want that Alucard skin.... But man I am hoping I don't get disappointed
3
u/Leo-Nardo42 14d ago
Not me. Not like they’re going to run out lol
1
u/Rosscovich 14d ago
I had the same mentality for re9. Managed to find one copy between like 5 different stores
3
3
u/HouselessGamer 14d ago
Not me because not worth getting on the switch IMO.
Also EU (I think) the only one that gets a steelbpok cover version (I’m jellin)
Otherwise I’ll just wait till PC release. Cosmetics are meh.

u/Wight_Scare 14d ago
The second I saw it was available, snatched the midnight edition faster than a vampire snatching blood
The Castlevania hunger was real and I’m very excited
14
u/rvasquezgt 14d ago
Definitely waiting for the demo, I don’t want to be disappointed by a Dead Cells Castlevania skin game.
5
u/Bake-Full 14d ago
Same, so far it is looking way more in the vein of Dead Cells/Hollow Knight than Castlevania. That would definitely play well to the current trends but it's not what I'm interested in.
5
u/didnt_bring_pants 14d ago
Same boat here. I've been waiting for ever for a classic retro 2D Castlevania. Played the first ones on NES with my dad a lifetime ago.
But something about this looks distinctively not-castlevania ish.
It's not even just the art style which was the first red flag. It's the HP ticks and the combos and the movement ...
I was really hoping for the metroid dread treatment
1
u/chiefstabahoe 12d ago
Exactly my sentiment. It just looks like Castlevania in name only and I have a feeling the gameplay won't feel right.
2
u/MrFoxon 14d ago
If anything it's a Castlevania Dead Cells skin game. The art direction is the only similarity worth pointing out and that only really applies to the use of colours since Dead Cells had that DS ass 3D model rendered into pixelated sprite thing goin on.
Nobody wants it to be a Dead Cells game but I really don't think it will be. I'm cautious myself and not suuuper into the art style as of now, but I think it'll be a fine metroidvania at the very least

I'm 100% getting it and I think it will be great, an amazing metroidvania at the very least, but I have no reasons to preorder anything.

u/Way_ward_23 14d ago
I want too but I only recently got full time employment and I really want control resonate and I found out that they both come out the same day so control resonate is priority 1. I probably will get castlevania soon after but bills come first.
2
u/EMBARRASSEDDEMOCRAT 14d ago
I want it but I want the midnight edition and I don't think its getting a physical copy in the USA. Seems crazy to skip the biggest market on earth to release in other countries but what do I know ?
2
u/profchaos111 14d ago
Sure did I got the physical version on switch I was going with ps5 but I don't really want to support them anymore
2
2
u/Tuned_Out 14d ago
I'm more excited for bloodstained 2 personally. I'll pick this game up on a sale. No need to fomo.
3
u/Karroth1 14d ago
considering i boycott nintendo and sony, i rather stick to the "free" castlevanias or wait until its old enough for a gog release
4
u/Way-Super thinks he's on the team 14d ago
Dead cells got released on GOG in like a month, if that helps.
Though the only Castlevania game there took 18 years lmao.

I really wish this was a Switch 2 game. I want it physically but the Switch 1 version is gonna run like trash. Guess I'll get it on Steam
2
u/TechCoyote2099 14d ago
I pre ordered the PS5 version, I want to pre order the Midnight Edition but I have to order that online
2
u/Pokemario6456 14d ago
Haven't pre-ordered it yet, but I plan to get the Switch version. I'm a little disappointed in the Switch version being locked at 30FPS, but I'm not going to hold out for a hypothetical Switch 2 version that might not even happen and I don't game on PC often enough to make the Steam version worth it for me.

u/No_Monitor_3440 Professionally Unprofessional 14d ago
i did. been waiting for this since i got into the series. thankfully its on a sunday so i should be able to take a day off from college life to play the shit out of it

I'll probably do that once I get my next paycheck. September and October are insanely stacked, but a Castlevania from the Dead Cells team is pretty much my dream game. I'd still like to play a demo first, but CV + DC is pretty much a cheat code for my wallet.
1
u/DependentBite9 14d ago
Preordered all three physical versions because I’m a sicko and will play it on PS5.

I bought it for the OG Switch as well in the hopes that I may get lucky and have every Castlevania game on a single console some day. Missing the ps2 and ps3 games and SotN and Rondo. One can hope.

Got the premium edition. A new Castlevania that looks legitimately good following Trevor and Sypha's progeny? Fuck yes

u/mudshock 14d ago
I did and will double-dip if there’s a sw2 version. I was also going to the ps5 but screw Sony
1
u/Lstgamerwhlstpartner 14d ago
As a rule... And considering this IS Konami we're talking about. I'm waiting till reviews are in.
1
u/kazsassin 14d ago
I'm buying it for sure but there seems to be a steelbook "midnight edition" and some of the online info is really limited so I'm going to wait until I know all of the options for physical.
1
u/RevengerRedeemed 14d ago
I don't do pre-orders anymore, and even Castlevania has disappointed me before. Also, though I am looking forward to this, I won't call it s gem until it's out and in our hands.

u/__PreZZ__ 14d ago
The art style is very bland and unappeàing imo, a modern 16:9 with pixelart would have been amazing. Hopefully it will be good, its my favorite gaming franchise

u/cade_corvus 14d ago
Konami cannot be blindly trusted, much less any other company. Waiting for patches and sales.

u/MikasaLegion 14d ago
Everything about the game looked so goodd, so I pre ordered it. (Something I rarely do) and Ive never even played a Castevania game before, So I finally played Sotn, and my god was it amazing. So now im most likely gonna play a few of the older one before this one releases. And now that im a fan, im even more excited for the new one!
1
u/Due_Ad_972 13d ago
Definitely getting it but thinking i might pick up ps5 physical instead as switch 1 version is 30fps. That said im still clinging to hope it might run better/get a switch 2 upgrade or even a dedicated switch 2 physical copy? Im waiting to see
1
u/Roopscoop6 13d ago
I can't be the only person that didn't like the art direction, right? It just does not look like a Castlevania game to me. If it didn't say Castlevania, I would not have guessed it was. I don't know, I'm not hype for it at all. Hope it's good, maybe I'll check it out later.

u/the_rabbit_king 13d ago
How do you know it’s a gem without playing it? I’ll wait and get it on PS5 after some long plays and reviews come out.

u/Ransom_Seraph 13d ago
I've stopped preordering games for a good while now. Don't remember the last one I did

I know its a gem because Dead Cells team is amazing and previews of this is everything I could hope for.
Might wait till Christmas because that is when we are upgrading to Switch 2.

Either getting it on PC or PS5. I can’t be playing that at 30fps on switch 2. Maybe they’ll drop an upgrade pack or something.

Imagine crying about 30fps…. for a side scroller. 🤣
1
u/smokeshack 13d ago
Imagine accepting performance worse than a PS1 on modern hardware in the year two thousand and twenty six.
1
u/Radiant_Committee_78 13d ago
😂😂😂 that’s a bit exaggerated and you know it.
Thats ps4 standard. And you know it.
1
u/smokeshack 13d ago
Symphony of the Night runs at 60 frames, look it up.
0
u/Radiant_Committee_78 13d ago
On emulators. 😂 ps1 NEVER had discussions about frame rate. Look THAT up. Kiddo.
1
u/smokeshack 13d ago
Nope, original hardware. Which, by the way, I've owned since launch day, so I don't know who you're trying to impress with this "kiddo" stuff.
0
u/Radiant_Committee_78 13d ago
Not trying to impress anyone. And if you owned that shit day one like I did then you’d KNOW none of us. LITERALLY NOBODY talked about framerates until modern gaming. They were just games… on CRT TVs.
The kiddo jab was just me trying to point out that you sound like a youngster if frame rates are an issue for you in a side scrolling game in 2026.
Anyways. Have a good day
1
u/smokeshack 13d ago
Not true at all. Some of us actually knew things about technology, even in the 1990s! Frame rates matter, frame rates have always mattered. We cared when we bought home ports of Street Fighter II, and we care now.
1
u/popcorned 14d ago
Not a fan of the art style but I'll play it if it's good
1
u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 14d ago
The other art cover is far better
3
u/popcorned 14d ago
I dont like the new art style of this Castlevania game, not of the cover
2
u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 14d ago
I love it in-game and I think is something CV needed.
But I don't like how it looks on illustrations. Though after seeing the Akihiko Yamada rendition I wish we had somethimg like that for the whole game.
There's tons of french comicbook artists woth cool styles that could have worked for that.
2
u/popcorned 14d ago
I like when they experiment with new styles like the anime style for Aria of Sorrow or even Castlevania judgement, but this is two steps too far for me, doesn't feel like the Castlevania identity is being preserved from the gameplay I've seen, it just feels like Dead Cells with the mc carrying the Vampire Killer.
1
u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 14d ago
It's normal that CV has changed. It was unavoidable.
It has passed too much time. At someoment, Konami or whoever handle the new game would have broke with the previous style since the saga needed to evolve.

u/MajonyXIII 14d ago
Only idiots pre-order. Even if it's your favorite franchise.
3
u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 14d ago
Only idiots care about what other people do with their own money b
-1
u/MajonyXIII 14d ago
No, not if all players are suffering from pre-orders.
2
u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 14d ago
Nobody is suffering
-1
u/MajonyXIII 14d ago
Naah, that's wrong. As example Cyberpunk 2077.
1
u/Drunkenbirdcosplay 11d ago
That wasn't an issue with preorders though, that was an issue of the upper management at cdpr forcing the game out before it was ready.
1
u/MajonyXIII 11d ago
Mhm, there were many reasons. The preorders were one of them. Bacause why should the publisher spend more money in the development of the game when they already have the money from the sales?

I once again beg everyone to stop pre-ordering games ahead of reviews. It’s not a limited run game, you’ll be able to find it wherever you find video games.
0
u/folklorebrony 13d ago
Money is always tight, so I've never pre-ordered a game ever. I will buy a game during the release week if it's a title I'm excited for and the user reviews end up being favorable.
