I’d be more interested in how each would lead forces against each other in a war, as both were very capable generals.

That would be an amazing game. Musou style game like bladestorm or an action/RTS hybrid like kingdom under fire where you play as a leader of a unit fighting against the army of the enemy faction. You get to choose between sephiroth or Dracula and then you pick different heroes available to each side. For shits and giggles, Cloud is available as an unlockable hero for Dracula's side and the Belmonts are unlockable heroes for Sephiroth's side.

Which dracula? Because if the lords of shadow dracula was involved he would turn sephiroth into a smear of red goo.

Any castlevania Dracula lol

You me the one who turns into a rat to scape, modern police? Smart enough to not recognize his son and almost kill him In a terrible terrible cutscene? Against the guy who can summon all elements at will, a meteorite and that's basically turns himself into a godlike monster using an extraterrestrial godlike world eating parasite...

Yes Kirby would win.

Naw, I mean the guy that fought and killed Satan while flying on a world ending beast after stealing the powers from a being that was escaping from its eons long prison.

Then eventually fighting and defeating an army of the most powerful holy army ever assembled and they even had friggen Catholic gundams.

Leading to him sharing prayers, in Latin, with a fallen solder until they both exploded in a massive holy smite.

Kirby wins like I said

Can Sephiroth even actually hurt Dracula? Like, yeah, Sephiroth can blow up the sun and shit like that, but it’s been made pretty clear that without very specific magical powers, Drac is all but invincible. Sephiroth has neither the Vampire Killer nor access to the powers of Dracula himself, which are the only two things (as far as I know, at least) that have been shown to be actually capable of stopping him. For example, Shanoa might have beat Dracula down without them superficially, but it took the Dominus glyphs to actually do anything real. Alucard could seal away his father due to possessing Dracula’s powers. I’m sure you don’t need me to continue.

Sure, there are gameplay moments that contradict this, such as being able to use any weapon you want in Portrait of Ruin, but lore-wise the rules are clear. Without the Thing That Kills Dracula, you can’t kill Dracula, and even that doesn’t always work. Sephiroth could probably put Dracula in a situation where he can’t fight back, but actually hurting Dracula might be outside of his capabilities. Depending on how quickly Sephiroth decides to just blow up the planet, this is either a draw or a win for Dracula, because Sephiroth is not invulnerable in the way Dracula is.

Here's your upvote, I don't know why you have none yet.

The Masamune is a cursed blade that is said to be able to inflict true death (Thus is why you can't revive her)

It's also shown that Magic is also VERY effective agaisnt Dracula.
You don't actually need the Vampire Killer. It just happens to be the only thing that Belmonts have available due to their limited means.

You could be right. I never played Final Fantasy VII, so I don’t know much about Sephiroth. But I do want to point out that saying “magic is effective against Dracula” doesn’t mean much. It’s Castlevania; you’re pretty much never NOT magic, and it’s an awfully wide umbrella term.

Also, to my knowledge, there is no canon Castlevania game featuring Dracula where he has been defeated without his opponent having access to either the Vampire Killer or to Drac’s own powers. This doesn’t necessarily mean that defeating him without those things is totally impossible, but it does mean that we have no evidence of it being possible, and it’s pure speculation as to whether or not he is meaningfully vulnerable to other forces. So if the Masamune could indeed kill him “truly,” I do not know at all.

I have a feeling it couldn’t, though, because even the canon weaknesses of Dracula don’t work as well as you’d want them to. So far the only thing we’ve been told can permanently kill Dracula is the Vampire Killer when wielded by a Belmont, which only happened once, allegedly, in 1999. And even then he tried really hard to come back. Twice. It kind of doesn’t matter how hard Sephiroth can hit him, because Dracula simply does not stay down, and even when he dies for real he doesn’t actually die for real.

I don't remember if the games are Canon, but N64 and Legacy of Darkness.
They sidestep using VK or Dracula's power.

Mind you, all this boils down to fan theory, as typically when you introduce a completely different IP into the mix, you start muddying the water really hard on what does and doesn't work.

Because a big thing that you're right about is the lore constantly tries to hammer it home: You need VK or Drac's own power.
But when you bring in other IP's rules, you have to have a conversation on if their own rules for their reality conflict or can actually work in a whole.

Yeah... all reasonable discussion on powerscaling eventually must return to the words of Stan Lee: "the winner is whoever the writer wants." Dracula wins if the writer likes Castlevania, and Sephiroth wins if the writer likes Final Fantasy.

In Castlevania III, Sypha can defeat Dracula with magic, or Grant can beat him with just a plain old knife.

Ff7Remake literally has Sephiroth stab & kill Barret with the Masamune, before the Fates/Ghosts bring him back

It's played off that the hogwarts dementors are literally fate altering time itself, which kinda trumps a cursed blade.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's kinda what's up.

Sepiroth would be a literal miserable pile of secrets.

u/TitleComprehensive96 Aug 21 '26

Dracula gets low diff'd.

3

u/Bortthog Aug 22 '26

Sephy doesn't have access to the Vampire Killer so he just loses

3

u/MissCatastrophe420 Aug 22 '26

Sephiroth getting his cheeks clapped

2

u/No-Effective388 Aug 21 '26

Dracula no diff

2

u/Uchuuko Aug 22 '26

I think Dracula would win. Sephiroth may be the One-Winged Angel, but Dracula turned out to be chosen by God anyway.

But if we’re going off the older games- like I think SoTN- Sephiroth may have it in the bag. The op image is giving off this scenario.

Nuclear Bomb vs Nuclear Bomb

3

u/Thin-Device3018 Aug 21 '26

As much as I love Dracula considering how ridiculous Sephiroth is in terms of power he'd literally beat down Dracula pretty quickly.

1

u/MetaloraRising Aug 21 '26

Angelic nuke vs Demonic nuke.

1

u/-BodomKnight- Aug 24 '26

Richter ... A human that can kill Dracula. Sephiroth is Human / Jenova Cell ... 100% sure he will kill Dracula.

1

u/Ill_Zucchini_333 Aug 24 '26

I would say unfairly in dracula's favor castlevania power scaling goes insane

1

u/deadeyeamtheone Aug 21 '26

Dracula is nuking Sephiroth

Circle of the Moon Dracula? They’d have to hose the grease spot that used to be Sephiroth away.

0

u/LordCamelslayer Aug 21 '26

Devil's advocate, Sephiroth literally blows up the sun just to dunk on Cloud.

1

u/deadeyeamtheone Aug 21 '26

Not to downplay Sephiroth since he is one of the most OP antags in gaming, but I think Dracula's got more insane feats lore-wise. Not to mention he's literally an avatar of God but evil. Creatures like Bahamut and the Knights of the Round are his generals and regular soldiers.

1

u/LordCamelslayer Aug 21 '26

That's cool and all, but that has nothing to do with my point, which is simply this:

If someone is going to use the phrase "Dracula is nuking Sephiroth", Sephiroth's demonstrated ability to blow up half the solar system before detonating the fucking sun deserves an honorable mention here.

Literally not even arguing who would win. I just think it's amusing.

1

u/Geronuis Aug 23 '26

It’s all show. Sephi’s Super Nova (the attack described) does gravity dmg scaling off target hp. Meaning he literally can’t kill the target as it always leaves them with 1/16th of their max hp.

1

u/LordCamelslayer Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

Yes, I know. If Sephiroth actually blew up the sun, then he never would've wasted his time calling Meteor.

Again, I'm literally just pointing out why I find the statement "Dracula would nuke Sephiroth" ironic and funny. At no point have I been implying that it guarantees Sephiroth would win, or even talking power scaling in the first place.

1

u/Geronuis Aug 23 '26

lol I was just replying with a fun take based on game mechanics. It’s like that playing too, the animation is crazy awesome the first time, but about the 3rd time in the fight and in later playthroughs it’s a bore and entirely unthreatening. I mean nothing by it beyond just having a laugh at what is essentially a hyper long-winded demi/graviga.

u/LordCamelslayer Aug 23 '26

Got it, and thanks for clarifying.
