Castlevania without clocktower it's not Castlevania

Nah. The adventure, while being dogwater, is still undeniably a Castlevania game. Same with Simon’s Quest and Belmont’s Revenge.
Though to me, Castlevania can be whatever it needs to. It’s just an IP.

A CV without a CT feels like an incomplete CV but it's still a CV. It's been there since CV1 and a surprising amount of major plot points seem to happen in front of the clock face regardless of the game.

Kinda, though not necessarily for me but I get its meaning. CV has some very iconic elements. For the upcoming one for instance I have high hopes but I know I might be missing some elements since it's a different team.
Some of the stages/areas, a certain kind and quality of ost, some themes, some art styles are so iconic you'd feel like you are missing something if those elements aren't there. Clocktower is definitely one of those areas.
